POSITION: Technician -- Manual Machinist (Aviation)

Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Auburn, Washington

Department: Machine Shop (4110)

Starting Hourly Pay Scale $25.00-$27.00

Overall Hourly Pay Scale $25.00-$36.85

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:55AM-2:30PM (40 hours/week), subject to overtime

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for machining aircraft parts using approved technical data. The position requires a reliable self-motivated machinist with the ability to read/write/understand the English language, following directions, and work in various teamwork settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Machining aircraft parts using approved technical data.
  • Work overtime and holidays on short notice.
  • Follow customer's special instructions and requirements.
  • Follow all company procedures and policies.
  • Follow all safety and security policies and regulations.
  • Back up department functions, cross-train in other departments and perform other duties as assigned
  • Report to work on a regular and consistent basis.

REQUIRED ABILITY TO:

  • Read and understand component maintenance/overhaul manuals.
  • Use continual process improvement to streamline jobs.
  • Hold tolerance as close as +/- .0005".
  • Set-up and operate manual/conventional machines, along with the basic use of ALL machine shop precision tools and bore gages.
  • Be a reliable self-starter.
  • Demonstrate the use of common hand tools.
  • Demonstrate the use of balance machines, micrometers, dial calipers, and pressure gauges.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Build alliances, partnerships and collaborate with co-workers in a tactful, professional and respectful manner. Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Strong manual machining abilities, utilizing lathes and mills.
  • Competent in machine shop mathematical practices.
  • This position requires drug testing and criminal background check in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working in an aircraft machine shop environment.
  • Owns conventional machining tools such as: calipers, micrometers (up to 3"), adjustable wrenches, pliers, wire cutters, test indicators, travel indicators, dead blow hammer, 6" scale, thread pitch gauge, etc.
  • Experience with:
    • Trigonometry
    • Honing
    • Surface Grinding
    • EZ Track
    • MasterCam
    • SolidWorks
    • Bearing Swaging knowledge both on and off machine
    • Ability to set-up and operate a CNC lathe and/or mill.
    • Ability to operate HAAS CNC lathe and/or mill.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Continuous work in production setting.
  • Flexibility to work long hours and occasional weekends
  • Long periods of time standing
