THE POSITION

Sr. Software Engineer, Continental Autonomous Mobility US, LLC, Auburn Hills, MI:

Research, design and develop software for Automated/Assisted driving programs. Develop algorithms that use information acquired from radar/camera/lidar/ultrasonic sensors. Research state of the art of Assisted/Automated driving technologies and design and develop new ideas/projects to respond to user needs.  Develop tools to support the different stages of the software development process, from data gathering, prototyping, implementation and testing and validation of the software. Design vehicle test scenarios and maneuvers to validate new functions and improvements to existing software. Execute tests to obtain data and fine tune performance based on test results. Modify and integrate existing software modules and packages developed by different teams within Continental to work alongside algorithms developed by employee for seamless functioning of the Automated Driving system. Create documentation of the underlying algorithm, communication interfaces, operational details, validation procedure. Use in-depth understanding of underlying technologies to respond to technical questions. Optimize software function/performance to enable their utilization in resource constrained embedded platforms, including developing/utilizing algorithms that are more efficient to implement the same functionality.

 

Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field, plus 2 years of related work experience.

 

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Programming using Python and C or C++;
  • Developing algorithms for Automated and Assisted driving functions;
  • Analyzing data acquired from radar, camera or lidar sensors;
  • Using Version Control systems (including SVN or Git or Github);
  • Using machine learning techniques to develop low speed maneuvers, cruising and safety functions for advanced driver assistance system(s);
  • Using computer vision techniques to develop low speed maneuvers, cruising and safety functions for advanced driver assistance system(s); and
  • Using a Vehicle Communication Protocol, including CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, or FlexRay.

     

International travel required up to 2%. Domestic travel required up to 5%.
