Noblis Hardware Test Engineer in Atlantic City, New Jersey

Responsibilities

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Voice Switch and Recorder (VS&R) Program Office manages eight different programs that procure and sustain voice switch and recording systems that provide critical, high availability Air Traffic Control (ATC) air-to-ground and ground-to-ground voice communications within the National Airspace System (NAS). The VS&R Program Office is responsible for acquisition and full life cycle program & system management of operational ATC Voice Communications Systems (VCSs), which includes development of requirements, procurement of new systems, verification, validation, testing, logistics, implementation, deployment, sustainment, tech refresh and replacement of existing ATC voice communications systems.

The Hardware Test Engineering Lead will support the FAA Voice Switch & Recorder (VS&R) Program Office Test Team in modernizing its Air Traffic Control (ATC) Voice Communications Systems (VCSs) and will provide Hardware Engineering, Hardware Testing and/or Environmental Testing support for various VCS systems and subsystems, and will beresponsible for designing, developing, and implementing testing processes and methodologies to ensure the quality and reliability of VCS products and systems. This resource will utilize expertise in testing techniques, tools, and automation to identify defects, verify functionality, and validate performance across various stages of product development and deployment. Responsibilities include defining test objectives and requirements, designing test plans and test cases, and executing tests to verify product functionality, usability, and performance against specifications and requirements. This role will also involve developing and maintaining test automation frameworks and scripts, conducting regression testing, and analyzing test results to identify defects and areas for improvement, collaborate with cross-functional teams, to ensure that testing activities are aligned with development goals, requirements and timelines.

Required Qualifications

At a minimum, the candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in Hardware/Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience.

The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience analyzing technical system specifications/requirements and developing test cases to verify system compliance

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply standard Test Verification/Validation methods (Demonstration, Test, Inspection, and Analysis)

  • Ability to write Test Cases and Test Scenarios, develop Test Plans and Test Reports

  • Experience conducting and participating in execution of Test Scenarios

  • Ability to write Test Logs and Discrepancy Reports

  • Experience utilizing test and analysis tools/capabilities

  • Experience performing certification/accreditation of new test and analysis tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Test Automation methods/tools

  • Experience with Environmental Testing and Hardware 1st Article Testing

  • Experience troubleshooting Hardware failure and malfunction

  • Experience with Audio Circuit Analysis and Design, and with designing and implementing custom electronic circuits

  • Ability to design and implement custom Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), including layout and production

  • Full understanding of computer system interfaces including Analog, Electrical, Digital, VoIPKnowledge of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model, including the 7 layers that computer systems use to communicate over a network.

  • Knowledge of communications systems/networks and voice/data communications designsStrong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills

  • Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks within expected schedule

  • Flexible/easily adaptable within a dynamic work environment

  • Customer-service and goal oriented

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

USD $67,800.00 - USD $105,975.00 /Yr.
