Home Depot Workday Report Writer- Staff Software Engineer (Remote) in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose:

The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for independently developing, redesigning, and troubleshooting Workday custom reports to adapt to our associate's needs. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while configuring, deploying, and supporting the Workday application. In addition, Staff Software Engineers may be involved in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring as well as mentoring less experienced engineers.

  • 20% Supports and Enables - Fields questions from product and engineering teams; Helps grow junior engineers by providing guidance on modern software development frameworks, and leading technical discussions; Notes gaps on the team and provides suggestions for changes to make the team more productive

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with Workday report writing, including Advanced, Complex, Matrix, and Composite reports.

  • Experience with creating reports for multiple Workday functional areas such as HCM, Payroll, Compensation, Absence, Talent, Recruiting and Learning.

  • Experience with creation of Workday dashboards.

  • Experience with creation of Workday alerts.

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Basic understanding of Workday Security as it relates to reporting.

  • Technical lead with ability to partner with all technical and non-technical teams/setup & coordinate work efforts/testing efforts amongst many teams (business/product/operations/internal IT teams).

  • Must be a problem solver and able to deliver solutions.

  • Supports development and standardized processes, evaluates current processes, and makes adjustment as needed including but not limited to technical processes, data integrity, systems integration, and communication methods.

  • Works with subject matter experts and cross functional teams to address questions, perform research, finalize requirements, and perform system testing.

  • Participates in Workday bi-annual release planning and testing and proactively remains informed about Workday Reporting. Must understand release impacts on existing reports, alerts, and dashboards.

  • Experience with BIRT

  • Experience with creating and executing unit, functional, destructive and performance tests.

  • Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques.

  • Experience with agile practices and methodologies.

  • Experience with JIRA.

  • Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
