The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing accurate and timely close responsibilities including but not limited to journal entries, account reconciliations and ad hoc analysis that supports finance and operations departments as needed for the Revenue Team. This individual will be required to provide input to and participate in various other projects as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Record monthly/quarterly journal entries in Workday for revenue recognition, bad debt reserves, accruals, reclasses, and allocations

  • Work with various Finance teams on monthly P&L analysis and variance explanations

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and trend analysis for assigned areas in a format acceptable to and consumable by external auditors

  • Research and resolve any reconciling items identified during account reconciliations process

  • Seek opportunities to create process improvements and gain efficiencies in assigned areas

  • Create standardized process documents for all areas of responsibility for SOX purposes

  • Work with external auditors partners on quarterly and annual audits

  • Ensure areas of accounting responsibility are recorded, reconciled and documented in compliance with GAAP

  • Take personal responsibility for compliance with internal controls under his/her responsibility as documented in connection with SOX procedures

  • Manage responsibilities in order to meet deadlines

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • 1-2 years of experience accounting, public or private

  • GL accounting background

  • Strong excel skills

  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and customer service skills

  • Ability to multi-task and manage, and meet competing deadlines

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position sometimes requires extended hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand, such as during month-end close, the annual audit, or during other special projects as needed.
