Robert Bosch LLC seeks Sr. Packaging Engineer (Multiple Positions) at its facility located at 6555 Fulton Ind Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30336. Direct packaging development, testing and evaluations of new and existing primary, secondary, pallet load and tertiary packaging systems for OES customers. Develop packaging solutions for parts sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD), corrosion inhibitors (VCI), etc. Understand customer requirements and specifications with respect to product packaging. Define packaging specifications and packaging bill of materials. Create packaging specifications and bill of materials in the SAP / Legacy based IT systems, submit the specifications to Bosch plants, external suppliers and obtain their approvals as well as submit the specifications to customers and obtain their approvals. Develop packaging concepts based on competitive benchmarking for retail customers. Develop IT use cases, test concepts for the global packaging system (PACKIT). Act as a subject matter expert for PACKIT data and PACKIT Packaging Cockpit. Train cross functional teams for all levels of the organization using PACKIT. Work with internal IT to develop automation to improve existing processes. Address any packaging quality issues such as customer complaints, package damage etc. and realize permanent solutions for package quality improvement with usage of tools like 8D, PSS. Work cross functionally as well as with OES customers to reduce waste and reuse packaging materials for various sustainability initiatives in the supply chain. Lead the cross-functional team for following engineering change process for packaging design and label data changes. Ensure alignment internally and externally. Identify and implement opportunities to increase profitability by reducing the cost of packaging materials, maximize pallet quantities and decreasing warehouse utilization. Work and collaborate with Bosch vendors for implementing programs such as QR code, packaging regulatory standards etc. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Packaging Science, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer, Packaging Structural Engineer, or other occupation involving packaging engineering functions. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Packaging materials specifications particularly for corrugated, pallets and films; (2) Understanding engineering drawings and packaging validation/testing requirements such as ISTA3, ISTA6 ASTM, or VDA; (3) Requirements and specifications with respect to customer product packaging and unit load distribution; (4) Bill of material creation, modification and integration with production system including but not limited to costs and ergonomics factors; (5) Packaging design software such as, TOPS, CAPE, ArtiosCAD, or Solidworks; (6) Project management software management tools such as Jira, Jira Service Desk, or MS SharePoint Project; (7) Utilizing PACKIT, Packaging Cockpit, and SAP-P39; and (8) Applying engineering skills and problem-solving techniques including 8D, 5 Why, and Ishikawa diagrams.
