Chick-fil-A Sr. Counsel - Regulatory, Distribution & Manufacturing in Atlanta, Georgia

Overview

As part of the Corporate Legal team, this Senior Counsel position is a full-time position responsible for providing solution-oriented advice and strategic direction on a broad spectrum of regulatory compliance matters pertaining to warehouse, distribution, and food and beverage manufacturing operations for Chick-fil-A Inc., Chick-fil-A Supply and Bay Center Foods.

The role is responsible for providing legal advice on food safety, occupational health and safety, transportation, environmental, telecommunications and other regulatory issues associated with distribution and manufacturing operations and will partner with the business to ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor concerning regulatory compliance matters involving Chick-fil-A Supply, Bay Center Foods and Chick-fil-A, Inc. departments.

  • Provide regulatory interpretation and strategic legal advice to enable compliance in the areas of food safety, occupational health and safety, transportation, environmental and other regulatory issues associated with Chick-fil-A Inc., Chick-fil-A Supply, Bay Center Foods related to warehouse, distribution and food and beverage manufacturing operations.

  • Deliver calibrated advice concerning new regulations and laws that will impact the business and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement the requirements.

  • Lead or partner cross-functionally with the business to develop innovative solutions for new and on-going regulatory compliance related strategies, initiatives, and processes.

  • Manage and lead regulatory audits, investigations and responses to agency inquiries, inspections and remediation of compliance events arising out of warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing operations.

  • Develop and update critical documents, policies, standard operating procedures, handbooks, and other communications in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

  • Deliver training and education about the existing regulatory requirements and emerging developments with business impacts for business leaders and risk, safety, quality, and compliance professionals.

  • Serve on cross-functional teams and attend business meetings to provide legal advice to business partners on a broad range of regulatory and legal subjects across the organization.

  • Serve as a regulatory liaison in support of regulatory affairs for Chick-fil-A Supply and Bay Center Foods.

  • Provide advice on additional regulatory matters and special projects as needed.

  • Independently manage outside legal counsel and paralegal work and spend.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Subject-matter experience counseling businesses on FDA, USDA, OSHA, DOT, EPA and/or other laws and regulatory frameworks.

  • Demonstrated experience with managing regulatory inquiries, investigations, responses to compliance events and interacting with regulators.

  • Highly motivated team player who exhibits self-leadership, independent decision making, and initiative to creatively solve problems, answer questions and prevent problems, where possible.

  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to balance legal risks with practical business objectives in complex and dynamic situations.

  • Clear written and verbal communication and influencing skills. Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues across audiences and partners.

  • Highly collaborative with a track record of maintaining strong working relationships with business clients across the business, legal and industry.

  • Ability to independently manage a diverse, complex, and full workload in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and meeting deadlines.

  • State Bar membership.
