Software Development Engineers build code by using core agile practices such as "keep it simple," test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, polyglot programming, and microservice design. A SDE focuses on designing and implementing modernized specialized business applications, deploying to development, test, staging, and production.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, prototyping and demonstrating new featuresand components of front-end and back-end to users to ensure compliancewith requirements

  • Assisting in the design, implementation andoptimization of related approaches, tools and workflows

  • Collaborate with the technical teams, business teams,and product managers to ensure that the code that is developed meets theirvision

  • Develop solutions to meet functional and technicalrequirements

  • Own quality posture; write automated tests ideallybefore writing code

  • Write code

  • Align to Security/Compliance frameworks and controlsrequirements

  • Develop delivery pipelines and automated deploymentscripts

  • Implement Service Reliability Engineering

  • Fix problems from the development phase through theproduction phase, which requires being on call for production support

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, with 5+ years of relevant technical experience or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems with 2+ years of technical experience.

  • Experience in business analytics and/or product development and KPIs

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Software Engineer developing in Java and AWS technologies

  • Experience with Agile Methodologies

  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases and web service development standards and practices, including RESTful APIs and microservices

  • Cloud-native development and strong working knowledge of developing and deploying applications in major cloud providers (AWS or Azure)

  • Experience in cloud managed services and DB (RDS, NoSQL/DynamoDB, serverless, etc.)

  • Considering Observability, Monitoring, Logging, and Tracing as part of development leveraging managed services like AWS cloud watch and Dynatrace etc.

  • Experience with system integrations, optimizing performance and data integrity

  • Understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and tools in an enterprise technology environment

  • Solid grasp of the full Software Development Lifecycle, building CI/CD pipelines and practicing Test Driven Development

  • Fundamental Awareness of Application Security principles and 12-factor application development principles

  • Experience with source control, build tools and GIT (GitHub, Bitbucket or other)

  • Passion for driving continuous improvement

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Airline industry experience is good to have

  • Experience with AWS services including ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, SQS/SNS and setting up DevOps pipelines with GitLab CI, Tekton/Code Build

  • AWS Certification is a plus

Pay Range: $68100.00-$183700.00 annually
