How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
The Senior Software Development Engineer is responsible for development, operations, and enhancements being built for Delta’s cloud journey. As a member of the Crew IT Team, engineer will be involved with engineering, support, and thought leadership as it relates to the platform, automation, and other related activities. This position requires working closely with internal team members, Product Owners, and other supporting IT groups.
Your Responsibilities in this role:
Implementautomated, containerized cloud application platform solutions, with afocus on application concerns including cloud-ready distributedapplication architectures, migrating workloads to containers,containerized development workflows, and integrating container platformswith automated CI/CD pipelines
Serveas a subject matter expert with the ability to explain and translaterelevant details of the OpenShift platform and its constituent componentsto those less familiar
Designand develop cloud applications, features, and enhancements with anemphasis on clean, highly efficient, supportable, and well documented codefor the full technology stack
Collaboratewith the technical teams, business teams, and product managers to ensurethat the code that is developed meets their vision
Provideefficient solution and deliverables to shorten the project life cycle,where applicable
Ownthe quality of the product delivered by engaging closely in testingactivities.
Createvisual models (flowcharts, class and activity diagrams, sequence diagrams)
Fixproblems from the development phase through the production phase, whichrequires being on call for production support
Supportoperationally critical environment, using monitoring tools and scripts,data feeds and associated scripts, research, and analysis of productionissues, capturing logging.
Providementorship to Junior Engineers as needed.
Excellentcommunication skills and ability to work within the focused team.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Minimum 7 years of SoftwareDevelopment experience
Experience in Cloud Technologies(preferably AWS) and application migration to cloud
Experience in Agile methodologies,DevSecOps, CI/CD pipeline and Build tools (GIT, Maven, Gradle)
Experience engineering softwarewithin an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure or other prominententerprise cloud provider
Expertise in Java/J2EE framework,design patterns and tools, relational DB (Oracle)
Experience in Web applicationframeworks and API technologies like Spring Boot, JQuery, AngularJS and Swagger
Automation-minded: Hands onexperience of writing automated tests for backend applications and data flow,using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, Ready API etc
Experience working withcontainers, and managed container orchestrators (Kubernetes/OpenShift) in thecloud (For example AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service, Red Hat OpenShift)
Experience with Unix shellscripting.
Ability to work well with othersin a time sensitive and team environment with minimal supervision, be resultsoriented and capable of meeting deadlines with attention to detail and followthrough
Strong technical and non-technicalcommunication skills. Assures smooth flowing, timely transmission of criticalinformation
Fundamental Awareness ofApplication Security principles and 12-factor application developmentprinciples is required
Consistently prioritizes safetyand security of self, others, and personal data.
Embraces diverse people, thinking,and styles.
Possesses a high school diploma,GED, or high school equivalency.
Is at least 18 years of age andhas authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
AWS Certified Developer –Associate is a plus
Experience working withcontainers, and managed container orchestrators (Kubernetes/OpenShift) in thecloud
Experience in cloud managedservices and DB
Knowledge and/or experience withmessaging solutions such as ActiveMQ or Kafka
