WestRock Company Senior Manager, Pricing & Estimating in Atlanta, Georgia

The Sr. Mgr., Pricing & Est will be a leader and a resource for Mgr. II, Pricing & Est teammates across the country ensuring internal process control of divisional policies and practices. The Sr. Mgr., Pricing & Est will be responsible for ensuring that profitability reporting and pricing tools are formed in a consistent manner to ensure that business decisions are made with the best interests of the enterprise in mind. The Sr. Mgr., Pricing & Est will work directly with Mgr. II, Pricing & Est and Sr. Anlst, Pricing & Est while partnering with Regional and Area Sales and Operations Leaders. Sr. Mgr., Pricing & Est should have master level comprehension of not only enterprise goals but how to use current and future tools to best meet and/or exceed future financial aspirations set by executive leadership. In doing so, this means ensuring that all Centralized Pricing team members have an understanding of those goals, the policies in place to help reach those goals, and are following those policies set forth by our leadership teams in their day-to-day activities. From a pricing standpoint, the Sr. Mgr., Pricing & Est will be the primary point of contact for traditional executives now labeled as Regional Sales Leader and Regional Operations Leader roles when it comes to pricing both incumbent and non-incumbent business.

Principal duties include:

People Leader:

Act as figurehead within the division by advocating for culture and mindset changes around future "agent of change" business needs.

Create and maintain a working environment in which all parties can work effectively as business partners and complement each other allowing for efficiency and nimbleness in desired markets.

Responsible for the design and implementation of pricing strategies and policies to support the efforts of the company executive leadership team through identifying and assessing financial and/or pricing related opportunities.

Will be main contact within the centralized pricing team responsible for defining processes, creating tools, and automating processes for all variations of pricing activities.

Actively involved in onboarding and maintaining overall vendor-customer relationships with third party partners.

Responsible for making sure both internal and external (third party) tools are being fully utilized including possible enhancement across duration of partnership.

Continually evaluate market and competitor dynamics to assess the impact on the enterprise and update data driven pricing strategies and process recommendations as fit.

Work as liaison between divisional decision makers and corporate "Bid Desk" team members, as needed.

Work as project leader for RFQs/RFPs deemed fit for "Regional Bid" scope utilizing current tools to consolidate and prepare aggregated views for decision making purposes by executive leadership.

Ability to work through conflict resolution both internally within the Commercial team as well as externally within other departments of the enterprise.

Facilitate the professional growth of Area Pricing Leaders through transparency and exposure via coach/player relationship and encouraging same stance with their own team.

Ability to compile and lead educational training sessions on all aspects and expectations of what it is meant to be to be a pricing professional within Smurfit Westrock.

Market Pricing Leader:

Understanding pricing quality and profitability of current customers within the division both at integrated and non-integrated perspectives and ability to educate others how to use each appropriately.

Master level comprehension of the market-based and value-based pricing policies of Smurfit Westrock as well as ability to educate others on strategies the policies intend to enforce.

Comprehension of current market conditions within Smurfit WestRock Price Zones and FBA Regions and when it is appropriate to use each segmentation type to develop strategies best for each opportunity for the business.

Exposure and awareness of all internal resources available to Sales and Operations teams to make the most of value-based selling scenarios.

Coordinate across global functions and teams and manage sometimes conflicting goals to help the Sales organization win deals that meet company objectives.

Ensure that the maintenance of pricing records by team within various ERP systems are completed efficiently with both accuracy and timeliness and identify opportunities for all involved parties to further streamline.

Track successes and failures of pricing activities regarding short-term results but also to identify opportunities in the long-term to resolve with future process improvements.

Assist in the education of Area Pricing Leaders regarding Smurfit Westrock pricing policies and procedures as needed in both formal and non-formal settings.

Local Margin Improvement Leader:

In a leader role, candidate should possess both hard skills and soft skills to ensure that all parties maintain constant focus on margin enhancement initiatives within the division/region/area.

Hard skills could include but are not limited to Lean Six Sigma belt certifications and/or Finance experience or similar expertise.

Soft skills could include but are not limited to aligning appropriate resources from project creation through project completion and/or defining scope for each team member on project-by-project basis.

What you need to succeed:

Bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration or some sort of related field; master\u2019s degree preferred.

Continuous improvement mindset.

Active in Professional Pricing Society third party educational program and/or already received certification.

10+ years of experience in some combination of pricing, costing, customer service, and/or manufacturing background.

Familiarity with Smurfit Westrock\u2019s unique value propositions in the region.

High level understanding of KIWI, Amtech, and/or SAP depending on area estimating system requirements.

Experience and comfortability with Qlik reporting platform.

Understanding of the corrugated box manufacturing process.

Extensive experience and knowledge level of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Thorough but efficient communicator across all means of communication.
