The Surface Transportation org is expanding and introducing new capabilities to our Maintenance business that supports all Middle Mile assets (tractors, trailers, box trucks, hostlers). We are looking for highly motivated and entrepreneurial people who are excited to deliver world class solutions while wearing many hats and working in a highly collaborative environment that is more startup than big company.

This role will require strong leadership skills and interaction/influence with teams across Amazon to drive the development of our maintenance business. The ideal candidate will be curious, have strong attention to detail, be energized by a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, be comfortable thinking big while also diving deep, will have high judgement and comfort managing senior stakeholders. Decreasing asset downtime yields increased asset availability reducing the need for rental, along with new equipment procurement. Your goal is to know why the assets are reaching unavailable status to determine a path forward reducing or eliminating occurrences in the future.

Additionally, this position will provide support for our business partners through clear, factual communications and lead initiatives on a wide range of complex topics. A successful individual in this role must be skilled at breaking down complex problems into prioritized, executable phases. You will evaluate the data down to component and assembly level of detail to identify areas of focus. The role requires regular interactions with multiple teams and jointly working with them to meet both short term and long term business needs.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive program objectives – provide program management and define project plans, manage implementation activities, and develop processes, documentation and communications for program/process rollout and ongoing support.

  • Identify top contributors of assigned asset downtime and develop programs to mitigate.

  • Communicate new/updated programs, policies, and processes to leaders, employees, and cross functional organizations.

  • Scale services and tools – design processes and procedures that scale with the business’ growth in volume, complexity, and global geographic dispersion.

  • Serve as SME for responsible asset proving support for customers by developing A to Z level of understanding for given asset.

  • Drive resolution of critical asset issues as well as support processes/systems deep dives to ensure root cause analysis and correction resulting in improved customer experience.

  • Define key performance indicators – develop metrics and service level agreements for core programs and processes, and track delivery against program objectives as they relate to assigned Middle Mile asset.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of team management experience

  • Experience in Automotive, Fleet Management Leadership roles

  • Ability to independently establish OEM relationships and gather bench marking data to make data driven product decisions.

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience communicating with VP-level decision makers; experience communicating expectations and requirements with business and technology teams through written proposals

  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments and overcome challenges with a high degree of flexibility and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
