ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education (ACPE, Inc.) is a multicultural, multi-faith organization devoted to providing education and improving the quality of ministry and pastoral care offered by spiritual caregivers of all faiths through the clinical educational methods of Clinical Pastoral Education. ACPE is nationally recognized as an accrediting agency in the field of clinical pastoral education by the U.S. Secretary of Education through the U.S. Department of Education.

This positionis responsible for bothroutine and complex accounting activities requiring knowledge of systems, independent judgment and ability to respond accordingly. Oversees activity on various accounts. Coordinates action necessary to correct account balances and maintain proper accounting controls and procedures. Prepares and analyzes financial statements/reports to represent current and projected financial status of the organization. Projects future trends and prepares long-range operational forecasts and cash flow analysis. Participates in year-end audits and in ensuring the accuracy of accounting data.

Additional Job Details:

  • Apply GAAP to properly account for company activity

  • Supporting books of the Association and the Foundation

  • Review, verify and accurately record accounting transactions into accounting software

  • Prepares accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions including all billings

  • Responsible for general ledger and journal entries

  • Preparing trial balance and reconciling entries

  • Review and reconcile profit & loss and balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies

  • Prepare month end journal entries, such as prepaids or accruals

  • Ensure regular banking deposits (including check, wire, and credit card receipts) and reconcile cash book transactions

  • Expense report review and processing

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures and issuing Financial Statements

  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports

  • Budget preparation for annual review by Leadership and Board of Directors

  • Asist in external audit by analyzing, researching and gathering data to provide to auditors

  • Routine analysis of financial data and other information to make projections which will inform management of the status of the organization

  • Participate in annual budgeting, through analysis of historical data and other information to make projections which aid in short and long range financial planning.

  • Ensure procedures and financial manuals are up-to-date, efficient, and compliant with laws and regulations.

  • Assist in training incoming Accountants or Bookkeepers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, finance or related field and two years of financial analysis or accounting experience OR equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • QuickBooks online experience

  • Advanced Excel knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge regarding non-profit legalities and guidelines is a plus

  • Detail oriented, exceptional organizational skills and verbal communications

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
