The Project Engineer is a subject matter expert for common mechanical or electrical utility systems across our manufacturing network. Using their knowledge as an SME, the Project Engineer is responsible for providing effective counsel to solve short term problems, providing input to help define scope and investment requirements for larger capital projects, and contributing to the development and continuous improvement of toolbox elements to decrease demand on human and capital resources required to drive successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Operate with a proactive communication style to all cross functional groups and individuals within Altium, recognizing that communication is effective only when the sender and the receiver both own the responsibility for delivery of accurate and timely messages.• Execute Altium strategies, projects, and specific activities to positively impact safety culture while employing improvements to reduce risk and improve safety.• Subject matter expert in one of three WBS categories – Material Handling Systems, Conveyor Systems, or Quality Control/Decoration Systems• Support multiple project managers in developing design requirements for selected SME area of expertise• Develop RFQ proposal that includes technical requirements, vendor installation, commissioning plan, training plan, performance guarantee, and PAT/FAT requirements.• Develop bid analysis and drive vendor selection process that best meets the requirements of RFQ• Communicate with the Procurement team in order to develop bid requests for equipment and services.• Prepare final purchase specification including performance guarantee and supplemental requirements of purchase to be issued with PO to selected vendor.• Develop the utility and equipment specifications required for each project.• Provide technical expertise to plant and corporate personnel.• Develop designs for facility and production related systems while incorporating personnel safety objectives into the designs.• Evaluate the condition and performance of existing plant equipment and facilities.• Lead and participate on project and improvement teams.• Function as a change agent in the implementation of new technology and systems.• Full adoption of Altium’s Guiding Principles, demonstrating said adoption throughout day-to-day activities and decision making.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field• Minimum of 5 years project management and/or project engineering• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to correctly prioritize tasks.• Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.• Ability to travel between 20-50% monthly• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Demonstrated experience in team building skills• Innate ability to develop willing followers and lead others by influence• Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Project/Smartsheet scheduling software• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD use

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineering experience in plastics manufacturing (blow molding)
