How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The DMS Program Director-Asset Monetization is responsible for managing Delta excess engines to ensure maximum benefits are realized. The program director works in concert with the on-site Managers to coordinate requests from TOC customers and ensure prompt delivery. The Program Director will work with TOC counterparts to collect and refine data in order to identify and evaluate asset purchase or disposition opportunities that minimize inventory levels and maximize operating cost reduction. The Program Director will develop and implement a strategy for a World-Class engine part out program. These responsibilities require daily interaction with Delta business units including planning, finance, maintenance, engineering, MRO Services and external customers. The Program Director also coaches and develops his/her direct reports to maximize effectiveness and deliver optimal value to DMS and Delta. This position reports to the DMS Vice President-Asset Monetizations and interacts frequently with middle/senior management.

Primary functions include but are not limited to:

  • Manage excess engine movement & storage programs including coordination with Fleet Strategy, Demand Planning, OCC, DMS site operation and MRO Providers

  • Manage engine part out programs including coordination of asset selection with Delta TechOp.

  • Develop process and SOPs for process improvement, working through cross functional teams.

  • Manage partout vendor performance to achieve program objectives including vendor evaluation, selection, contract management, performance tracking and issue resolution.

  • Maintain Delta material inventory and usage data to support engine valuation analyses and ensure expected return on investment.

  • Support the analysis of proposed acquisitions to confirm technical acceptability.

  • Manage the induction of acquired assets into Delta’s operation to achieve expected benefits.

  • Lead Engine part-out savings planning, tracking, forecasting and addressing performance gaps with stakeholders for timely resolution and achievement of planned savings.

  • Identify surplus material monetization as well as cost reduction opportunity for DMS/DL, recommend appropriate solution and driving implementation efforts.

  • Improve vendor performance with quarterly business reviews with vendors and robust processes for invoice audit, approval and cost reduction opportunity identification and implementation.

  • Improve inventory tracking records and compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Improve processes related to surplus asset receiving and acceptance into the Delta system.

  • Lead day-to-day communication with on- site reps and vendors for successful program execution.

  • Coach and develop directs reports

  • Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

  • Measures success by economic benefits realized, low reject rates, excess inventory removed and level of consignment sales, as well as timely resolution of vendor or process issues.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related technical discipline is required. MBA/Master’s degree preferred.

  • Deep knowledge of Delta aircraft and engine material processes, systems and data analytics including relevant SCEPTRE, MIRS, GEM and SAP transactions is required.

  • Thorough understanding of Delta’s policy and procedure, TOPP compliance standards, Delta’s maintenance program, reliability goals, engineering and technical documents.

  • 5 to 10 years related experience with at least five years of experience in two or more relevant areas such as inventory management, project management, engine part out program, advanced data analysis, and executive presentation.

  • Advanced computer/database skills (Excel, Access, Hyperion/Brio, SQL, SAS, SAP etc.)

  • Must be able to present complex material in a concise but comprehensive manner.

  • Self-starter and team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities from multiple stakeholders.

  • Able to work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive program performance and issue resolution.

  • Strong business acumen including structured problem solving, analytical skills, data analysis
