Amazon Principal Program Manager, Transportation Operations Management Safety and Compliance in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

Amazon is seeking a Principle Program Manager, Transportation Operations Management (TOM) Safety, to work with the North America Surface Transportation (NAST) team to drive safety initiatives and business partnerships. This leader will lead the successful implementation of a comprehensive safety strategy to enable and promote safe and efficient workplace practices for thousands of employees across the North America Amazon Surface Transportation Network.

As a Principal Program Manager on the TOM Safety and Compliance team, you will collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders, including Legal, Training, and Tech Teams demonstrating strong influence and leadership. Your organizational expertise will enable you to make sense of complex and sometimes incomplete data, addressing a broad spectrum of safety and compliance challenges.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will consistently inform key program sponsors and stakeholders through structured, transparent updates—whether communicating with team members or presenting insights to senior leadership, including VP-level stakeholders. Your ability to distill program status and strategic initiatives will be key to driving operational alignment and compliance goals.

You will focus on building strong relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners, fostering a collaborative environment where safety and compliance are at the forefront. Your forward-thinking approach will drive innovative safety initiatives that not only meet current standards but also anticipate future challenges. By aligning teams on strategic safety priorities, you will ensure that Amazon’s TOM organization remains proactive in mitigating risks, enhancing operational resilience, and promoting a culture of safety across the entire network.

• Management of safety strategy, delivering solutions that address operational safety issues across TOM.

• Ability to build trust and confidence within Operations and other stakeholders; influencing change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

• Create clear, concise, and consistent communications.

• Teach leaders safety leadership through Amazon policies and standards.

• Excellent knowledge of safety programs to include safety and ergonomics with the ability to demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 7+ years of program or project management experience

  • 7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
