Position Summary

The Department of Surgery is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their neurotrauma research team. Under the general guidance of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will be responsible for independently designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments related to the neurotrauma research lab’s areas of interest, as well as providing training for staff/students as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • This position requires a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or MD) with a specialization in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other relevant areas of biomedical sciences.

  • Evidence of scientific productivity and peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in modern neuroscience and molecular biological/biochemical techniques is preferred.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

  • Serve as a senior, top-level contributor in research activities, under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator.

  • Independently manages research projects, from inception to completion, including reporting.

  • Develop new research/experimental areas, including potential research projects dependent on the lab’s main goals (with permission and consultation from the Principal Investigator).

  • Design and perform research experiments and collect and analyze data produced.

  • Present data in the form of weekly updates and other formats (including but not limited to scientific conferences and publications)

  • Develop complex techniques, and teach these procedures as needed. Supervise any students assigned to help with various research project tasks.

  • Provide consultation and expertise on complex projects.

  • Provide training and mentoring to students working in the lab.

  • Apply and submit grants for funding independent projects, as applicable.
