Robert Half Paralegal- Municipal Governance in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Paralegal to join our team in the government sector based in Downtown, Atlanta. This role offers a contract-to-hire employment opportunity and operates under a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor legislative initiatives and activities, providing detailed reports and summaries on potential impacts to the City

• Cite check legal pleadings

• Research legal issues and prepare memorandums and summaries

• Oversee the drafting of client and legal correspondence and documents such as City legislation, memorandums of understanding, intergovernmental agreements, and other contracts

• Assist attorneys in processing and managing various legal requests, including litigation support requests

• Maintain and update case or matter status in the case/document/matter management system

• Arrange conferences or meetings between government officials and corporate/community representatives to clarify political positions before they are routed for approval

• Coordinate the development of proposed legislation and policies, making recommendations to departmental management

• Provide technical direction and guidance to subordinate staff responsible for specialized areas of legislative analysis as needed

• Establish and maintain key contacts with various departments and stakeholders

• Support projects, including but not limited to, regulatory research projects, and draft policy/certificate/plan document provisions which meet City objectives

Requirements

• Applicant must have a strong understanding of legislative issues and related research techniques

• Proficiency in navigating the complexities of municipalities is required

• Prior experience as a Paralegal in a government setting is highly desirable

• Must have a thorough knowledge of legislative-related matters

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for this role

• Must have the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software is necessary

• Familiarity with legal databases and research tools is a plus

• Must have a strong ethical compass and maintain confidentiality at all times

• A degree in law, political science, or a related field is highly desirable
