Job Description:

NCR Atleos is seeking a skilled and experienced Linux Engineer III on the Linux Team. The candidate will be responsible for provisioning, supporting, patching, and upgrading Infrastructure hardware and technologies. The role will require the candidate to respond to L3 events, requests and working with our vendors to resolve any hardware or software issues. The successful candidate will require knowledge on VMware vCenter and ESXi, Cloud providers Azure / OCI, scripting / automation applications, Linux and Linux applications related to Red Hat and Oracle Linux.

Key Responsibilities / Attributes:

  • System Administration and Management: Perform advanced Linux system administration tasks, manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, and oversee the deployment, management, and troubleshooting of applications and services on Linux systems.

  • Patch and Update Management: Support the Patch Team to ensure systems are up to date with the latest patches and updates.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, optimize as needed to ensure high availability and reliability, and optimize system architectures for performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Capacity Planning and Resource Management: Assess current and future system resource requirements, plan for scalability, monitor resource usage, conduct capacity planning, and provide recommendations.

  • Configuration, Scripting, and Automation Management: Utilize configuration management tools to automate system configurations and deployments and develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks and system management.

  • Virtualization and Cloud Management: Manage Linux systems in virtualized and cloud environments (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure, OCI).

  • Application Support: Plan, test, document, and coordinate upgrades Linux related applications and infrastructure, and share efforts and support other Linux and application teams.

  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure systems comply with internal policies and external regulations and conduct regular audits.

  • Training, Documentation, and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and mentoring to junior team members and other staff on Linux-related topics, and create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Perform Level 3 support, including advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution, and diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems.

  • Independent Contributor: Self-motivated to meet clearly defined goals with a high degree of independence. Takes prompt action to accomplish objectives; takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required; is proactive.

  • Communication Skills: Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.

  • Applied Learning: Assimilate and apply new job-related information on time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree with 5+ years of Linux support and application experience. Will consider additional industry experience in place of a degree.

  • Experience with implementing new security and governance policies while balancing end-user productivity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Linux Sever Management

  • BigFix and Automation experience.

  • Advanced experience and creativity with system and application troubleshooting.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills to convey complex technical topics.

  • Application design experience is a plus.
