Description

The Financial Director for Emory Healthcare Inc (EHI) is a critical role responsible for overseeing financial operations related to shared services and other key projects identified within the organization associated with shared services. The director will provide financial oversight and decision support for Emory Healthcare Inc. This position supports and coordinates further development and expansion of shared services strategy across the organization to drive high-quality, cost-effective services in support of Emory Healthcare’s mission. EHI has an annual spend of $640m and includes Finance, Digital/Information Technology, Human Resources, Quality, Managed Care, Access and Clinical Transformation, Market Services, Strategy, PFS, and Executive Leadership Team.

Financial Reporting and Accuracy:

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and dependability of financial records, processes, and internal controls including operational and capital projects.

  • Support shared services leadership and operations with education and analysis of the financial results.

  • Timely completion of financial reporting requirements including the coordination and publishing of the monthly report to all key stakeholders.

  • Ability to identify, clarify and communicate the progress against plans, recommending corrective action as necessary.

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying opportunities for cost control and revenue enhancement.

Shared Services Management:

  • Collaborate with various business units to standardize core financial processes and services.

  • Serve as a key point of contact to assist departments with variance analysis and budgeting.

  • Work with the operational business units to optimize their performance and planning.

  • Direct the preparation and deployment of the financial planning process at the business unit, ensuring collaboration and communication across the company; serve as a financial advisor to company leadership. Assists with the forecast and budget preparation for the operational units.

  • Develops recommendations to optimize shared services’ resources through efficient organizational structure and infrastructure of policy and procedures. Making recommendations regarding policies and procedures, and changes to the accounting system to ensure proper financial management, internal controls and timely reporting of all financial management activities, both internal and external.

  • Develops knowledge of technologies used by shared services; engages with IT and operational owners to enhance use of technology.

  • Creates and executes a roadmap that includes process optimizations and integration of new processes/policies into model.

  • Determine allocation methodologies for shared services and with operational leadership across the shared services enterprise develop key performance metrics for their areas.

  • Serve as the expert for shared services education and alignment.

  • Collaborate with business partners and senior management on processes and projects while representing the goals of the organization.

  • Meets with shared services leaders to review financial statements, key performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Maintains and updates the shared services allocation model to ensure accurate reporting of costs to each entity.

  • Supports business analysis for new projects and identifies information needed to support performance improvement initiatives, as directed.

  • This position will oversee productivity reporting to the shared services leadership and variance management for the shared services areas.

Key Projects:

  • Work closely with finance and operations to develop and build financial accountability for Emory Healthcare.

  • Present financial data using detailed reports and charts.

  • Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Identify, document, and assess internal controls and procedures for financial reporting.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the internal control provisions of relevant regulations.

  • This position will support and align system development across finance to ensure shared services reporting is developed and policies/procedures are aligned to shared services.

Leadership and Talent Development:

  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent within the finance team.

  • Provide leadership and direction to achieve organizational goals.

  • Lead the standardization of processes to create a more effective and efficient finance organization.

  • Risk Management:

  • Develop collaborative relationships across the shared services operations and is a finance liaison for the operations.

  • This position will interact with peers in both finance and across the organization with shared services leaders.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and excellence within the department.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate financial processes and systems, identifying opportunities for streamlining and efficiency improvements.

  • Implement best practices to enhance the overall financial operations of the organization.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to achieve financial objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required. A master's degree (e.g., MBA or MFin) is often preferred.

  • Proven experience in financial management and leadership, typically with a minimum of 7-10 years in progressively responsible roles. Preferably in the healthcare industry

  • Strong financial analysis and strategic planning skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.

  • Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
