Job Responsibilities

Budget Analyst III Responsibilities

  1. Supervises and plans work for assigned staff and provides technical assistance.
    1. Provide informal and formal training as needed.
    2. Prepare performance evaluations and provide feedback.
    3. Ensure staff creates a desktop procedure manual.
    4. Ensure that all assignments are completed timely and accurately.
  2. Supervises the annual operating budget (AOB) and amendment process.
    1. Ensures adequate documentation for all budget adjustments is maintained.
    2. Develop amendment schedule and submit amendments to the Budget Director along with supporting documentation.
    3. Work with the Director to maintain an appropriate budgetary coding structure.
    4. Monitor multiple funding streams.
    5. Monitor major federal programs/grants.
    6. Supervises the preparation of quarterly program expenditure projection reports.
  3. Prepare quarterly department-level personal services and expenditure projections.
    1. Advise the Budget Director of significant variances and anticipated funding level changes.
    2. Monitor multiple funding streams.
    3. Ensure budget analyst performs monthly and quarterly budget meetings.
  4. Reconciliations in PBCS and PeopleSoft Financials to ensure budgetary compliance.
    1. Ensure the Budget Analyst completes monthly reconciliations.
    2. Ensure quarterly reconciliations are completed.
    3. Ensure re-rates and journals are completed and processed timely.
  5. Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned. Examples include:
    1. Complete special assignments within supervised staff programs.
    2. Coordinate updates of performance measures.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in accounting, business/public administration, or finance from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of fiscal analysis job- related experience; OR Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Budget Analyst 2 (FIP011) or equivalent position.
