AIG Benefits Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

About the role:

The Benefits Manager, Health and Welfare Plans is responsible for managing all aspects of the operation and administration of the AIG Medical, Dental, Vision, and Flexible Spending Plans as well as the Health Savings Account program with the ultimate goals of 1) maintaining efficient, positive and accurate experiences for employees and managers utilizing such plans and 2) assuring that such plans are operated in compliance with various laws including required federal and state programs.

Health and Welfare Plan Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and manages the end-to-end processes for health and welfare plan administration.

  • Manages the relationship with multiple third-party administrators (TPA) and insurers, including driving and/or participating in contract renewals or RFPs and regularly communicate with the TPAs and insurer to ensure programs are being administered timely, accurately and in accordance with their terms and company policies.

  • In partnership with internal HR Shared Service Center team and external Benefits Call Center and Website vendor, evaluates, addresses and as needed, escalates service concerns and employee issues to the appropriate party and then work with/coordinates all parties to ensure those concerns are thoroughly addressed to resolution.

  • Serves as subject matter expert and primary liaison between various internal and external parties involved with the health and welfare plan administration and facilitate team projects with Corporate Systems; Payroll, Workday in updating software and/or correction current software issues.

  • Collaborates with legal department to ensure compliance with various federal, state, and local leave legislation and mandates. Develop and maintain up updated rules and process documentation of plans as well as SPDs.

  • Partners with Communication department to create and maintain of all communications for employees and managers, including annual enrollment guides, new hire guides, life event guides and information on company’s internal website.

  • Coordinates Annual/Open Enrollment activities including advising vendors on plan changes that may necessitate re-programming, testing and approving of annual enrollment website, and overseeing enrollment window period.

  • Reviews and approves vendors invoices and fund transfers needed for plan administration.

  • Responds to inquiries from regulatory agencies.

  • For self-funded Medical Plan, works with actuaries to analyze and ultimately set employee premiums each year and assures those changes are communicated to annual enrollment vendor, payroll , HRIT etc.

  • Proposes and assists with plan design changes.

  • Administers the meetings of the AIG ERISA Medical Appeals Committee, including analyzing appeals, preparing summaries for the Committee and crafting appeal notifications for plan participants.

  • Manages Benefits Analyst

What we're looking for:

The position requires a Health Plan Administration professional with:

  • 5+ years of Self Funded health and welfare plan management experience and demonstrated expertise in the administration, interpretation, execution, and process documentation of all company health and welfare program as well as assuring compliance of such programs with required federal and state laws (ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, RDS and others)

  • Substantial, success experience in working with third party vendors and insurers.

  • Strong customer focus with the ability to develop trusting relationships with stakeholders, including but not limited to employees, managers, Legal and HR Business Partners and to and communicate complex issues in understandable way.

  • The ability to think independently and use discretion when evaluating the appropriate course of action.

  • Critical analytical skills to identify, investigate and correct problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Demonstrated agility to work in a fast-paced work environment, manage a variety of tasks simultaneously with efficiency, balance a large and diversified workload, and navigate challenging situations.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of the Workday functionality a plus

  • Organizational and management skills to drive multiple workstreams needed to achieve the goals with a wide variety of internal partners (legal, communications, facilities, risk, IT, catering, etc.)
