WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE
This position will be based out of Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL
Flexible work environment with hybrid (both in-office and telecommute) work options available
Relocation assistance will be considered
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for providing project management leadership and technical support in the development and deployment of battery energy storage systems for the Retail Electric Operating companies of Southern Company.
Responsibilities Include:
Leading, coordinating (and serving on) cross-functional teams including but not limited to accounting, construction, engineering design, environmental permitting and compliance, legal, plant operations, project controls, safety, and transmission
Lead role in the negotiation, development, and/or management of contracts
Development and implementation of appropriate solutions addressing project challenges through identification and response to all circumstances that affect the revenue requirements of the project
- These affects include changes to the project's performance, cost or schedule encompassing the timeframe from project award through some defined period post commercial operation
Preparation and presentation of project status and results to all levels of enterprise-wide management and peer groups
Conducting economic evaluations and profitability analysis for battery energy storage generation resource options using spreadsheet-based financial models
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, applied science, mathematics, economics or finance preferred. An advanced degree is highly desirable, particularly an MBA.
Knowledge of renewables or battery energy storage electric generation is a plus
Experience in land development, technology development, project development, asset management, financial analysis, integrated system planning, project management, large capital construction projects, contract development, contract negotiation and contract management/administration is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High degree of critical/strategic thinking to resolve high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems.
Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and understandable manner to a broad group of stakeholders including company executives
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Project management abilities with proficiency in prioritizing multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
Proficiency with standard analytical and business software such as Microsoft Office applications is required
