Skanska Staff Attorney in Atlanta, Florida

The Staff Attorney assists Corporate Counsel in the Legal Department with efficiently supporting the legal and contract-related needs of the Business Unit on a national basis. To that end, Staff Attorney responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviewing proposed client contracts to identify deviations from the company’s Contracting Standards

  • Preparing detailed abstracts summarizing key notice and other provisions in client contracts

  • Negotiating and documenting revisions to the company’s standard subcontract documents

  • Preparing project-specific flowdown provisions for subcontracts

  • Supporting project teams with subcontract administration

  • Performing data analysis to proactively support claims identification and management

  • Supporting e-discovery and other litigation-related discovery activities

  • Assisting with training, especially with respect to subcontracting

  • Performing client contract negotiation and other required legal support for the company’s program management and small projects groups

  • Reviewing and negotiating non-disclosure, joint check, assignment and other agreements

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation and legal reasoning skills

  • Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility

Education and/or Experience

  • Law degree from accredited law school

  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of construction law

  • Admission to the bar in a State in the United States and in good standing to obtain in-house admission/certification, if required

This position involves working in a company office located in either Tampa, Florida or Atlanta, Georgia, though occasional flexibility for remote working may occur when feasible. Fulfilling the job responsibilities may require occasional travel (including air travel and overnight stays) to other company offices and project jobsites.
