Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and skilled production worker to assist in the operation of the plainer board machine. The role involves loading full-length boards onto the machine, stacking cut pieces, and performing preventive maintenance tasks such as removing and replacing blades and oiling the machine. Ideal candidates will have previous manufacturing experience and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Feed and relieve boards from the rip saw, industrial planer, and sander.

  • Sort, pile, and stack pieces of lumber.

  • Maintain a clean work area and adhere to all safety protocols.

  • Complete daily production records accurately and legibly.

  • Assist in packaging items for shipping, including marking, tagging, and counting parts accurately.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to stand for 10 hours per day.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure.

  • Mechanical aptitude and previous manufacturing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior woodworking experience.

  • Prior packaging experience.

  • Experience in manufacturing companies.

Work Environment

Work in a small, well-lit woodworking facility with air control, where you will be exposed to sawdust. The facility operates one saw and is managed by an operator/maintenance team. The work hours are from Monday to Friday, 6:15 AM to 2:45 PM, with a 10-minute paid break and a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Saturdays offer the same hours with an additional $5.00 per hour.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, Wisconsin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
