Ohio University Operations Support Coordinator in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

The Operations Support Coordinator under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations supervises and schedules transportation and parking activities and resources to include work assignment, equipment allocation and operational staffing to allow for work plan achievement. Oversees the supervision of personnel to include recruitment, selection, training, development and evaluation efforts. Assists with in-field technology coordination and equipment maintenance. This position directly oversees the CATS Late Night evening & weekend transit program, serves as the primary contact for after-hours fleet and fueling customer support & emergency response resolution, assists with event parking and fleet program needs, and conducts parking facility inspections as needed. Provides leadership support which is focused on ensuring team collaboration, providing solution-oriented and customer focused service care, and fostering a mindset of continuous process improvement within the unit.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Support Staff Supervision:

Coordinates field & operation activities for transportation & parking services programs to include oversight of intermittent & student transit drivers. Responsible for the daily oversight of the CATS Late Night evening & weekend transit program, provides after-hours service resolution for fleet and fueling programs, assists with special event parking activities, conducts parking facility inspections as needed, and supports additional fleet, & parking functions as assigned. Provides backfill support as needed for all other TPS service functions. Coordinates hiring, training, scheduling, time-keeping & evaluation for operations team which may consist of intermittent, bargaining unit and student employees. Ensures staff adherence to standard operating procedures and service guidelines and compliance with university, state and federal staffing requirements and university Collective Bargaining agreements. Directs the operations of assigned staff and ensures resources are available to achieve work plans and resolve complex business needs. Serves as a front-line ambassador for TPS operational services with an emphasis on providing customer-focused and solution-oriented business support.

  • Staff Scheduling & Resource Coordination:

Responsible for scheduling & work process coordination of transit and operations staff to ensure adequate service level needs for departmental program offerings. Organize, plan, and dispatch equipment and transit resources to meet staffing & event needs. Oversee staff assignments and activities. Work with operations and unit leadership to identify opportunities for service efficiencies and improve scheduling and resource distribution functionality. Coordinates the acquisition of supplies and materials to complete work activities and partners with local suppliers as needed. Maintains record keeping and compliance documentation as directed based on service function.

  • Service & Administrative Support Activities:

Assists with coordination of after-hours service functions for department as needed with a primary emphasis on fleet rental and fueling impacts. Works to resolve complex service issues & ensure operational efficiency with minimal impact to business operations and service functions. Provide support and assist with special events and functions as needed. Performs other misc. duties as assigned.

Transportation & Parking Services ( TPS ) is a 24-hour operation, 365 days a year. Position requires on-call status to respond to operational needs & service calls, mitigate travel & maintenance impacts and work through the resolution of customer support inquiries as they arise.

  • In-Field Technology Coordination:

Support in-field technology coordination efforts. Assist with performance and oversight of regular equipment maintenance and support activities. Administer staff training on equipment use, troubleshooting/repair and service support functions. Assist with coordination of facility operations and in-field maintenance activities. Organize in-field data collection efforts.

This position requires ability to think and react quickly and manage multiple tasks and functions within a fast-paced and dynamic office environment. Position requires customer-centric focus and critical thinking, conflict resolution, leadership and problem solving skills. Must be self-motivated and team-oriented.

Successful candidate will be required to meet the following requirements:

  • Must Possess A Valid Driver’s License,

  • Must possess or be able to obtain an Underground Storage Tank ( UST ) Class C Operator Certification within 30 days of employment.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain pavement/asphalt inspection certification and PAVER database training within one year of employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree, or vocational or technical school degree

  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or managerial experience

Advertised Salary:

The target salary range is $45,837 to $51,377 commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience while considering internal equity.
