TEKsystems Workplace Support Technician in Athens, Georgia

This TEKsystems client is seeking a field technician for their support team. This team consists of 8 analysts. This person will be supporting supporting the territory from Athens everything north of that to Gainsville. there are 20 sites total, 350 devices that they would support. This person will be doing break/fix PC and Printer support including laptops and basic software issue as well as mobile devices. 90% will be laptop support 10% mobile support. They will work from Remedy incidents and can provide the work they can remotely and if they are unable to fix it remotely, they will need to travel to the site to help fix the problem. The candidate can drive their own vehicle (reimbursed 67 cents per mile) or the company vehicle. They will also be responsible for project work with the Toughbooks project which they are currently rolling out new toughbooks to 80% of the territory. This person will help coordinate the replacement of existing toughbooks with new toughbooks. This person will be in charge of coordinating with the local supervisors to schedule site visits in order to do so.

The IT Workplace Support Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance (both hardware and software) and project support of leased and purchased PCs, laptops, and printers. These systems are installed, maintained, and repaired in accordance with established standards, service levels, and operational processes. The primary focus for this position is break/fix and installation of devices in Northeast Georgia. This position is will report primarily to their location in Athens, GA. The technician will provide primary desktop support for approximately 12 sites in this service territory.

Needs a valid Drivers License

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Two-year degree (college/technical/vocational) or equivalent hands-on experience in computer systems or information technology is preferred.

• Understanding of local area networks in a VoIP environment is required.

• Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and repair PC hardware, operating systems, and associated peripherals and software components.

• Must have proficiency with Windows 11 and MS Office.

• Ability to work independently, self-starter with good time management skills.

• Must have good verbal and written communications skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interfacing with customers to schedule work and ensure that customer

expectations are met upon completion of work

• Interfacing with other IT groups related to problems and installations as appropriate

• Managing and effectively prioritizing many work requests

• Maintaining current images on USB media

• Keeping abreast of current imaging installation procedures

• Understanding and adhering to billing and performance processes and procedures

• Maintaining accurate equipment inventories

• Installing standard, endorsed, or certified software and/or hardware devices, and providing minimal onsite training to get the client started

• Operating a company vehicle in a safe manner. Responsible for performing monthly vehicle safety inspections.

• Ability to climb into and maneuver around cabs of large bucket trucks and small pickup trucks for mobile device support

• Ability to lift 50 lbs

• Daily travel around service territory required.
