This is an on-site and full-time position with flexibility to work from home. At Alloy, we have an ethos of “Mentorship-By-Apprenticeship” in all of our positions. The Role  

As a Senior Lab Operations Associate at our Athens facility, you will be pivotal in ensuring our laboratory operations are seamless and efficient daily. This role centers around lab operations and facilities management, providing a dynamic and critical interface between various departments and functions. In this role you will supervise the maintenance of our facility and office spaces, liaising with a range of vendors to ensure timely upkeep and repairs. You will also be the onsite primary point of contact for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and the on-site liaison for the IT department.

This role demands a proactive and positive approach, characterized by a strong collaborative spirit and the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This role will report to Associate Director of Operations with autonomy owning various stakeholders, projects, and tasks in a dynamic start-up environment while keeping up the pace of Alloy. This is you!

How You’ll Drive Impact 

  • Organize: Manage an inventory which includes consumables, chemicals, supplies, etc., and working with vendors to ensure continuity in the supply chain.

  • Manage: Oversee all aspects of Athens shipping and receiving process, biohazard waste, chemical waste and the overall organization of the lab for efficiency and safety. You will maintain records for EH&S compliance and work collaboratively with the scientists on site.

  • Execute: Follow and enhance established Alloy processes and procedures to ensure lab is functioning optimally, striving for operational excellence.

  • Partner : work closely with the R&D team to ensure our laboratories operate without interruptions, managing equipment maintenance schedules and overseeing necessary repairs to support ongoing scientific innovation.

    Desired Multipliers  

  • BA or or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field, OR Alternatively, at least 2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.

  • Extensive experience with liquid handlers and other laboratory automation technologies is highly advantageous. Your ability to streamline lab processes through automation will be a critical asset.

  • Proven track record in international shipping of bulk items, with proficiency in DOT and IATA regulations. Your experience ensures our operations maintain global compliance and efficiency.

  • Experience managing of biohazard and chemical waste in accordance with RCRA guidelines. Your commitment to safety and sustainability is paramount.

  • Capability to handle physical tasks, including lifting items over 50 lbs, which is essential for laboratory operations.

  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with teams across various US and international time zones, ensuring seamless global operations.

  • Openness to accommodate occasional travel, up to 10%, to meet project requirements and team collaborations.
