Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class team at Locomotive Kurastyru Zauyty in Astana, Kazakhstan, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) across our operations. You will interact daily with various departments and key stakeholders, providing leadership and guidance to ensure compliance and promote a culture of safety and sustainability.

You will be located at the LKZ Plant, A139 street, Astana, Kazakhstan.

How will you make a difference?

As the EHS Manager, you will lead the plant with industry leading EHS initiatives, ensuring compliance with company requirements and local legislation. You will mentor other EHS specialists, coordinate crisis response, conduct audits, and implement corporate EHS systems. You will be instrumental in promoting corporate health and safety programs and optimizing processes for efficiency and cost reduction. Your role is crucial in maintaining high safety standards and driving continuous improvement across the plant.

What do we want to know about you?

We are looking for a candidate:

  • with a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing EHS programs within manufacturing environments, preferably in heavy industry, energy, or transportation sectors.

  • who has strong understanding of environmental regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and best practices in industrial settings.

  • who is proficient in developing and implementing EHS policies, conducting riskassessments, managing audits, and overseeing incident investigations is essential.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure compliance and safety across the plant.

A deep commitment to promoting a culture of safety and sustainability throughout the organization is required.

You should be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve EHS goals while supporting overall plant objectives.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary to address complex EHS issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Fluency in Russian, English, and Kazakh is required.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Supporting EHS programs and ensuring compliance with Company requirements and global EHS programs.

  • Acting as a mentor for other EHS specialists at the LKZ site.

  • Participating in the emergency response team and coordinating crisis response in cooperation with various departments and companies.

  • Providing prompt assistance in case of serious incidents or accidents.

  • Coordinating audit schedules, organizing audit teams, leading audits, and assisting Kazakhstan sites in closing audit observations.

  • Collecting and reporting EHS KPIs, supporting and encouraging initiatives to simplify and optimize processes and cost reduction opportunities.

  • Coordinating training needs and assisting in finding qualified instructors and training centers.

  • Promoting corporate health and safety initiatives and programs: WMS, Gensuite, Wabtec Learning, etc.

  • Implementing and reviewing the effectiveness of the corporate EHS system (WMS).

  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of state statistical reports on environmental protection according to the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

  • Ensuring adherence to the Company's Management System according to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001.

  • Leading the development and implementation of measures to meet legislative requirements on occupational safety and health.

  • Organizing and controlling the implementation of occupational safety and health plans.

  • Controlling the correct operation of buildings and structures.

  • Participating in the investigation and analysis of occupational injuries and diseases, and developing measures to prevent and eliminate them.

  • Participating in drafting and controlling the implementation of the "Labor Protection" section of the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Participating in the approval of design documentation and the acceptance of completed construction or reconstructed production facilities.

  • Providing methodological support to the heads of the Company's structural subdivisions in compiling lists of professions and positions for mandatory preliminary and periodic medical examinations, as well as developing and revising occupational safety instructions and organization standards on occupational safety.

Flexibility to attend external customer engagements and perform site inspections as needed.
