ASHLAND CO HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES Social Worker Children & Families Unit in ASHLAND, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. 80% Initial Assessment/Child Welfare: Assesses for safety. Conducts initial face-to-face contact within required response times for CPS reports. Provides referrals for community services for families for both Service reports and CPS reports. Determines the range of services needed by individuals and families through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts, etc. Provides case management services for court ordered and voluntary cases related to child protraction, child welfare, and juvenile justice. Provides assessment and case management services for children, individuals, and families. Provides justification for removal of children under 48.19. Observes forensic interview. Provides testimony. Collaborates and coordinate with Law Enforcement, Indian Child Welfare agencies, District attorney, and others. Updates documentation in EWISACWIS within 60 days. Makes determinations based off communication and interviews on if allegations shall be substantiated or unsubstantiated. 7% On-Call: Conducts CPS intake and screening recommendations in accordance chapter 48 and intake access/IA standards. Provides information and referral of community services to children and families. Provides immediate intervention services to individuals in crisis. Updates documents and reports in EWISACWIS (state system). Provides juvenile court intake data in accordance with chapter 938. Oversees Chapter 51 Emergency detention approval payments. Determines if prima facie exists for crimes committed (alleged crimes). Provides victim rights information in accordance with state law. Assesses for safety. 5% CPS Access/Intake: Conducts CPS intake and screening recommendations in accordance chapter 48 & intake access/IA standards. Provides information & referral of community services to children and families. Provides immediate intervention services to individuals in crisis. Updates documents and reports in EWISACWIS (state system). Provides juvenile court intake in accordance with chapter 938. 2% CPS Ongoing Case Management: Provides case management services for court-ordered and voluntary cases related to child protection and child welfare. Determines the range of services needed by individuals and families through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts, etc. Attends court hearings and provides written reports & testimony. Monitors compliance with court orders. Gathers information for court reports and provides recommendations to the court. Oversees permanency planning, re-evaluate of safety and wellbeing of children. (TPR, guardianship, and reunification). Updates documentation in EWISACWIS. Completes monthly face-to-face contacts. 2% Youth Justice Inquiry: Determines if prima facie exists for crimes committed (alleged crimes). Provides victim rights information in accordance with state law. Completes Yasi assessment. Assesses for safety. Makes recommendations. 2% Ongoing Youth Justice: Complies with Marcy\'s Law. Provides case management services for court-ordered and voluntary cases related to youth justice. Determines the range of services needed by individuals and families through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts, etc. Attends court hearings and provides written reports & testimony. Monitors compliance with court orders. Gathers information for court reports and provides recommendations to the court. Permanency planning, re-evaluates safety and wellbeing of children. (TPR, guardianship, & reunification) Updates documentation in EWISACWIS. Completes monthly face-to-face contacts. 2% Chapter 51 (Emergency Detentions): Approves payments for State Hospitals (facilities). Coordinates independent evaluations. Attends all court hearings. Provides mediation between facilities & court council. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Quali ications: Demonstrated experience working with Federal or State Programs preferred. Experience with children, youth, and families involved in child welfare, juvenile justice, mental health, physical disabilities, and/or developmental disabilities systems. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently. Excellent oral and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Ability to manage families in crisis and provide effective collaboration and coordination with community resources. Demonstrated ability in the areas of interviewing skills, client assessment, plan development, outcomes monitoring and \"needs vs wants\" concept. Effective problem resolution skills including knowledge of \"best-practice\" communication and social work techniques. Ability to apply these techniques consistently. Proficiency with routine computer programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation in compliance with state standards as well as agency policy and procedures.
