U W-MADISON DIV. CONTINUING STUDIES Feed Mill Operator in ARLINGTON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This position prepares research animal feed at a complex feed mill operation located at the UW Arlington Agricultural Research Station, delivers the feed to animal units and fills in on the farm crew as time permits. This position will review feed orders, quality control, inventory management, ration sequencing, feed mixing, feed delivery, and assuring SOP procedures are followed by all. The feed mill is an animal research and instructional facility that provides approximately 4,000 tons of feed per year for animals within the UW College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and UW Animal Health and Biomedical Sciences. Accurate record keeping is required for feed orders, ingredients, and medication use. This position will provide a variety of technical support and take action in adjusting equipment to changing conditions. This position shall observe all AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care) standards (international animal use and care guidelines) and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) guidelines including any and all statutes and governmental regulations which bear upon animal care and use including, but not limited to, the prevailing standards of sanitation, health, labor and safety. This position must follow the particular requirements of agricultural research and teaching essential for an effective institutional program of agricultural animal care and use.
