Description
This Workforce and Financial Planning Specialist role will support the Global Operations People eXperience and Technology (GOPXT) team through workforce planning and financial acumen. The organization looks to the GOPXT Business Excellence team for central guidance and strategic planning and therefore, we play a major role in driving informed business decisions, especially those related to headcount, cost, and staffing models. Key job responsibilities
Business and Financial Acumen
Operationalizes annual business strategy and business performance measurements (OP1/OP2/Goals).
Acts as a workforce planning and financial SME. Determines knowledge gaps in business and financial acumen and determines the strategy for closing the gap.
Strong knowledge and experience working with HR practices and employment regulations.
Advise and develop solutions with customers involving significant business and/or financial results.
Thinks conceptually about financial returns and costs to achieve business outcomes.
Develop ad hoc business analysis and present recommendations to senior management.
Sets direction and helps other leaders use cost benefit analysis and financial return calculations.
Inspires and champions the development of global Amazon business strategies and practices where differences are the result of local law or intended variation for the enhanced financial results.
Writing Strategic Documents and Narratives
Write persuasive narratives that are clear and concise and effectively story tell using data.
Present narratives to senior leadership and influence outcomes.
Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses and dashboards to drive key business decisions
Write the development of ambitious business requirements for major initiatives. Requirements are clear and actionable. The results of the project deliver the outcomes intended with minimal rework.
Program Management and Process Improvement
Architects the vision and operationalizes it into ambitious goals and deliverables.
Designs and drives regular reviews of current processes, manages a portfolio of improvement ideas for maximum value.
Anticipates potential obstacles and prioritizes changes for the operation.
Ensures the development of a clear problem statement and desired end state.
Influencing Outcomes and Decision Making
Develops quality business cases and white papers that stand on their own to support recommendations.
Comfortable presenting complex and/or controversial changes to senior level leadership.
Responds to escalations, providing roots cause analysis and implement solutions.
About the team
The GOPXT Business Excellence team drives and facilitates decision making, clarity, and/or optimization of the Global Ops PXT strategy, operational planning, workforce planning, financial planning, and business operations. We are focused on making time, information, and decision processes more effective. We serve as an integrator, connecting teams and workstreams that would otherwise remain siloed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5 years of relevant experience, including a minimum 2 years of Amazon Finance, Workforce Planning, HR, or PM experience with increasing responsibility and scope
Business, workforce planning, and financial acumen (e.g., understands and knows how to navigate the OP1/OP2 process) and experience
Skilled in data analysis and data acumen including the use of tools such as Excel, QuickSight, and Clarity
Narrative writing expertise including striking a balance between concise communication and depth of detail
Experience leading complex initiatives successfully at scale (globally or country-wide)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in finance or a related analytical field
Experience building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
Well-developed program or project management skills
Skills in creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
Ability to influence without authority
Experience solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
Proven ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $187,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
