We are seeking a talented and mission-driven professional to collaborate closely with our Information Technology team, Technology Department, and all company functions. This role will focus on setting up, aligning, integrating, and continuously enhancing the productivity of our enterprise software and systems. The ideal candidate will address issues, troubleshoot challenges, and refine our processes for selecting, implementing, and integrating software tools across the organization. The goal is to maximize business productivity, ensure security, and deliver optimal value for our investments.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support and Administration

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support, administration, and monitoring of Microsoft Windows in both physical and virtual environments, with guidance from Umbra’s IT Director.

  • Desktop Management: Manage desktop deployments across multiple domains at varying security levels; collaborate with colleagues to plan for next-generation upgrades and replacements.

Security and Compliance

  • Patching and Upgrades: Oversee security patching and OS upgrades for Windows server and desktop enterprise IT systems.

  • Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with government-mandated IT security policies and procedures.

  • Media Protection: Perform media protection in line with DOD security policies, including degaussing and wiping hard drives as necessary.

  • Vulnerability Management: Conduct vulnerability scans of operating systems using approved security scanners and resolve IT-related Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) by remediating software vulnerabilities.

Infrastructure Development

  • Infrastructure Support: Develop and support a reliable IT infrastructure and networking environment.

  • System Audits: Execute routine audits of systems on a scheduled basis.

  • Thin-Client Management: Gain practical experience in implementing and maintaining thin-client workstations.

Problem Solving and Improvement

  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot operating system and application faults and errors.

  • Solution Development: Create and document solutions for complex technical issues.

  • Software Configuration: Review and improve existing software configurations and integrations as needed.

Collaboration and Research

  • IT Research: Assist in researching IT solutions to support technology implementations.

  • Team Interaction: Collaborate with the help desk and other teams to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and provide technical support as required.

Virtual Machine Management

  • VM Management: Demonstrate experience in creating and managing virtual machines (VMs), configuring optimization features at the VM level, and managing alerts, events, log collection, and reporting.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in server and workstation patch management methodologies.

  • TS/SCI with Poly security clearance (or TS/SCI with willingness to obtain a polygraph), with read-in within the past two years.

  • Current DODD 8140/8570 IAT Level 2 certification (or higher) required, such as CCNA Security, Security CE, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.

  • Experience in developing IT checklists, standard operating procedures (SOPs), guides, and related documentation.

  • Experience implementing ongoing system security compliance measures, including patches and system updates.

  • Strong familiarity with identity management, single sign-on (SSO), and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

  • Experience reviewing security scans and applying DISA STIG to Windows Operating Systems.

  • Ability to triage and classify incidents, prioritizing work efforts effectively.

  • Proactive self-starter with a positive attitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Over 3 years of experience in implementing and providing ongoing support for secure closed computing environments.

  • Familiarity with NIST and CMMC compliance and security requirements.

  • Proven ability to create and customize documentation and training materials for end users of cloud-based software.

We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by skills, responsibilities and relevant work experience.
