POSITION SUMMARY:

This role will lead a group of forward-thinking and knowledgeable Regulatory & Scientific Affairs professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to be a business partner with the commercial teams and engage Marketing, Sales, and the Technical Applications Group on the front end to enable speed to market with our products.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build a winning, results driven team, thinking and acting ‘people’ first. Ensure, through mentoring and training that the regulatory team demonstrates entrepreneurship and business partnership.

  • Build and drive the Nestlé RSA strategy in alignment with organizational priorities and lead your team to execute the strategy in alignement with USDA and FDA regulations.

  • Coach, mentor and advise on the execution of regulatory assessments in Innovation & Renovation, ensuring compliance of products by design of ingredients, labels, claims and communications.

  • Ensures ingredients, labels, claims and communications are in compliance with external regulations and Nestlé Standards.

  • Leverage expertise to stay ahead of industry trends and engage with the business to facilitate market entry into new/white space industries.

  • Actively engage with internal (Global RSA stakeholders, regulatory specialists in Nestlé R&D, etc.) and external stakeholders (US regulatory authorities, select trade associations etc.) as needed.

  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams and support innovation projects and advocacy initiatives as needed.

  • Leverage strong stakeholder management skills to enable fast and reliable issue resolution in area of responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

Requires BS/BA, preferably in nutrition and/or food science or legal, MS/MA preferred.

In-depth knowledge of the US food regulations is a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to quickly gain knowledge of Nestlé business strategy, organization, policies and instructions related to regulatory

  • People management and a driven ability to encourage, lead, and empower teams

  • 7-10 years’ experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, nutrition or product development, with significant experience with FDA and/or USDA, preferably in the food & beverage industry

  • 5+ years people management experience

  • Domestic travel up to 20% required

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, including negotiation skills and an ability to communicate regulatory & technical issues in lay terms.

  • Supports others in their development and builds a positive environment for long term development and growth.

  • Ability to influence partners through presentations, 1:1s, and briefs/proposals, along with formal presentations.
