Amazon Federal Security Sales Specialist in Arlington, Virginia

The role of a Security Sales Specialist requires someone who simultaneously acts as a market maker, operator, and general manager for their own customer accounts. With a focus on customer outcomes, they must work to win new customers, grow existing customers, secure lighthouse customers, drive revenue for new services, and develop strategic partnerships.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Security Sales Specialist to help protect customers from information security threats by promoting the native AWS security services portfolio. In this role, you will partner closely with the AWS sales teams, including account teams, solution architects, customer success, partners, demand generation, marketing, and more, to pursue sales opportunities for AWS and partner services. You will work directly with some of the largest AWS customers, developing the necessary executive and technical relationships to advise them on strategies to improve their security posture through adopting and operationalizing cloud security services. You will create scalable sales plays and programs that simplify and synthesize our key messages, and equip the broad ecosystem of AWS customer facing teams to amplify. As our commitment to improvement, you will pursue customer feedback to instruct the roadmap of our cloud security portfolio.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive revenue and adoption of native security services such as Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector, Amazon Macie, AWS Key Management Service, AWS CloudHSM and other AWS offering in a defined territory.

  • Meet or exceed quarterly revenue targets, and deliver business reviews to the senior management team.

  • Develop long-term strategic relationships with key accounts and the security teams of our customers.

  • Define, build and deploy US Federal focused sales and business development campaigns around the AWS security services.

  • Engages and drives scale at engaging Federal Government customers and partners about the AWS security services value proposition.

  • Exhibits proactive ability and expertise in setting customer discussions via AWS sales and partner teams.

  • Exhibits expertise and drives field and partner readiness for US Federal customers.

  • Engages in senior level customer meetings to discuss customer’s business issues and explores how the AWS security services can help address and resolve these issues.

  • Prepares and gives business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and metrics.

A day in the life

  • Partner closely with the AWS sales teams (including account teams, solution architects, customer success, partners, marketing, and more) to pursue security sales opportunities.

  • Work directly with some of the largest AWS customers, developing and exercising the necessary executive and technical relationships to advise them on strategies to improve their security posture through adoption and operationalization of cloud security services.

  • Contribute to the creation of scalable sales plays and programs that simplify and synthesize our key messages, and help to equip the broad ecosystem of AWS customer-facing teams with the knowledge and confidence to amplify your sales plays.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full sales cycle, technology sales or equivalent business development, sales engineering/consulting or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software

  • Experience in engineering, computer science, or MIS

  • Experience driving new business in greenfield accounts at the C-suite level or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $83,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. This position is eligible for variable pay via a sales compensation plan. These plans pay according to achievement level against sales targets and/or business objectives. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
