Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for experienced and motivated technologists who possess a unique balance of technical depth, strong interpersonal, and business acumen to drive enterprise transformation with our partners and customers. You will partner with our AWS Partner Organization, AWS Professional Services, Partners, Customers and other AWS teams to develop and execute highly scalable, flexible offerings/solutions that address customer business challenges. As trusted customer advocates, the Strategic Partner Program helps organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate/modernize existing workloads to the cloud. You will help shape and execute a strategy to deliver solutions for a broad range of partners and customer use cases primarily from large enterprise customers. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges.

In this role, you would be part of leading a complex and ambitious program to build our Partner Practice, as well as elevating the technical execution and delivery across GEO/Industries. Achieving success will require coordination across many internal AWS teams and external AWS Partners, with impact and visibility at the highest levels of the company. You’ll need to make prioritization calls across the enterprise that require both keen business and technical judgment, and will also drive processes and execution goals.

The successful candidate must have exceptional problem-solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated technical experience leading cross-functional teams. We are looking for a proven leader with the ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects. In the Strategic Partner Practice, we’re hiring both highly technical cloud computing consultants and experienced business focused individuals to take leadership roles to develop and execute strategies for various phases of large scale migrations for customers rapidly moving large numbers of applications onto AWS. Technical Architects will be responsible for driving the methodology by which we accelerate our customers journey. This person will work with the various internal stakeholders to identify and leverage differentiated offerings, solutions to drive go to market strategies for our partners and customers.

It is expected to work from one of the above locations (or customer sites) at least 1+ days in a week. This is not a remote position. You are expected to be in the office or with customers as needed.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.

Key job responsibilities

Expertise - Collaborate with AWS field sales, pre-sales, training and support teams to help partners and customers learn and use AWS services such as Amazon EC2 compute, Amazon S3 storage, Amazon Simple DB/RDS databases, Amazon CloudFront CDN, Service Catalog, Marketplace etc. Extensive experience leading and controlling large scale IT projects across multiple stakeholders.

Solutions - Define and deliver on-site technical engagements with partners and customers. This includes participating in on-site visits, mapping customer business and technical requirements, and guiding the delivery of technical solutions, both AWS and AWS Partner led, designed to dig deep into the details of customer systems to be migrated to AWS.

Delivery - Engagements include working with customers and AWS Partners to discover and map defined offerings and solutions to accelerate customers business outcomes.

Feedback and Insights - Work with AWS Global Specialty teams, partners and service teams to convey partner, and customer needs and feedback as input to technology roadmaps, improving partner/customer capabilities that would simplify adoption and drive greater success of the AWS platform.

Cross Functional – working with peer leaders across AWS to develop cross-functional ability to augment each other’s roles when necessary or so as to provide perspective for improvement.

Our Consultants work with enterprise customers locally, regionally and potentially domestically. As such, Consultants will be required to travel to client locations to sell and deliver professional services as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments

  • Led a cloud migration initiative as an AWS customer or consulting with a customer in their own IT transformation.

  • Knowledgeable on AWS partner ecosystem.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cloud Computing, AWS services such as: EC2, RDS, VPC

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Serverless technology and architectural patterns such as: Containers and Microservices.

  • Experience designing application architecture congruent using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IT implementation experience

  • Experience and technical expertise (design and implementation) in cloud computing technologies

  • Experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale or recent hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience

  • Experience with contract and statement of work development

  • Experience identifying, shaping, winning, and executing U.S. Federal competitive opportunities.

  • Enterprise business or sales experience.

  • Experience responding, reviewing, or writing proposal responses to RFxs.

  • A strong understanding of government procurement and government contract vehicles.

  • Experience and strong understanding of AWS cloud technologies.

  • 1+ year of experience with US Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and US Government contracting

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $204,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
