The Role at a glance:

Design Cuisine in Virginia is seeking a Catering Account Associate to support and assist Design Cuisine Sales Team in maintaining client accounts. This position assists directly in menu creation, service organization, event décor, on-site logistics and other services pertinent to client satisfaction. Keeps clients within budget and maintains a profitable book of business for Design Cuisine, adhering to all company policies and procedures. This position will travel between two locations at times between DC and Virginia.

Compensation Range- $55,000-$65,000

What you'll be doing:

• Perform all the essential daily clerical tasks to complete all proposals and orders for clients' events as directed by the Account Executive.

• Understand all services and products provided by Design Cuisine and their general prices.

• Maintain an accurate file on all clients reflecting their needs and changes.

• Be prepared for and attend all Account Management and Sales Department meetings.

• Produce accurate proposals reflecting the needs and budget of the client and within pricing guidelines of Design Cuisine.

• Prepare all menus and materials for sales executive for weekly meetings with the chef and biweekly one-on-one meetings with the CEO.

• Work with clients to create the vision for their event. Assist in scheduling and confirming appointments and tastings.

• Create appropriate equipment rental orders from our DC Rental Office for all events.

• Submit requests for staff to the scheduling department according to scheduling guidelines.

• Field all event inquiries to capture new business opportunities.

• Manage workflow for the Account Executive, including timelines, calendars, contacts, and event deadlines.

• Aid the accounting department in securing all billing needs after an event concludes.

• Produce concise information and directions for on-site event staff.

• Attend events as needed, with Account Executive.

• Supervise set-up and execute on-site event management procedures.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, creative environment with (at minimum) a basic understanding of food culture and event design.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic technical skills with knowledge of database management and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication skills and work effectively with coworkers - a team player.

  • Has advanced initiative and confidence to learn the business with a steep learning curve.

  • Has a strong desire to advance within the company into an Account Executive role (based on performance and an acquired skill set).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
