Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has a rich history in North Texas serving the local communities of Arlington, Kennedale, Pantego, Mansfield and Grand Prairie. We’re a 369-bed, acute-care, full-service hospital serving our community since 1958. Our location in central Arlington provides convenient care to people in the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas.

We specialize in comprehensive medical/surgical care, cancer care, women’s services, behavioral health, neurosciences and emergency medicine. We’re accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center and by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.

Texas Health Arlington Memorial is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, a Chest Pain Center and a Heart Failure Center. We’ve been recognized by the American Heart Association with a Gold Plus award for the exceptional care we provide to our stroke, heart failure and chest pain patients. Job Description

Oversees volunteer Services utilizing Volgistics and training programs Writes and updates Job Descriptions Maintains all personnel records and electronic data base necessary for system, state and regulatoratory agencies Recruits, orients, trains and retains competent volunteers for applicable positions (including those difficult roles due to hours/shifts, for hospital special events, etc) Coordinates initial interview and sets up orientation Assesses new and current volunteers skills and utilizes them effectively (addresses performance concerns in consultation with HR representative). Cross trains for back ups including staff volunteers and day captains Schedules training for new volunteers/or volunteers beginning new assignments on a regular basis and assesses learning needs and competencies of volunteers Develops and implements plan to create effective hospital and volunteer leadership relationships Communicates daily departmental and hospital activities to appropriate individuals to facilitate smooth operations Schedules recognition and retention initiatives including strategic celebrations and special events in conjunction with auxiliary board. Performs and coordinates scheduling of volunteers and coordinates substitutes for daily job openings. Holds regular meetings with the Auxiliary board president regarding upcoming events, needs, concerns, agenda items for board meetings and idea exchange/brainstorming. Supervises department assistant.

Departmental Operations Supports Gift Shop activity and processes. Maintains a safe environment and work processes including Employee Health Requirements Actively participates in entity and system committees Attends THAM leadership meeting and communicates key information to Volunteers Designs and implements effective recognition and retention programs, tracking cost and return on investment Orders supplies. Acts as working manager filling in where needed including in department, gift shop, volunteer relief.

Strategic Planning: Supports the development of applicable THAM strategies to meet entity and system goals. Develops and implements all volunteer policies and strategies to create a positive volunteer experience including a strategic retention program Assesses current position responsibilities for effectiveness and develops and implements new placement opportunities for volunteers. Serves as a liaison with the community Serves as a liaison and supports THAM Auxiliary Board activities Serves as a liaison with managers of other THR hospitals Provides and promotes Service Excellence involving employees, volunteers and physicians.

Continuous Performance Improvement Leads quality initiatives associated with Volunteer services and applicable THR/THAM goals/strategies. Works with other departments on entity and system initiatives and develops and shares evidence-based best practices. Reports critical and on-going activities and trends to EHRO and other parties as applicable such as volunteers, employee health, leadership, Risk Management, etc. Promotes involvement in community activities.

Fiscal Responsibility Assists in development of the operational budget Monitors compliance with budget Considers clinical, quality and operational outcomes and financial implications when making recommendations for changes in practices. Evaluates use of newly developed technology or products for cost effectiveness Collaborates with Gift Shop Manager to prepare monthly fiscal reports for department and gift shop.

Education

H.S. Diploma or equivalent required

Bachelor's Degree in Business, heath care related, or other relevant field preferred

Experience

3 years relevant healthcare, non-profit, or administrative experience required

1 year Supervisory and/or volunteer management experience preferred

Skills

Creative and strategic thinker. Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, strong operational background. Collaborative team player. Able to positively relate to people in all spectrums of society. Good educator with competency assessment skills and willing to share information. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, organizational ability, proficient in data bases and word processing systems
