Job Summary

The Department of Biology in the College of Science, at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (open rank). We seek to expand our strength in developing ground-breaking research in Integrative Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology.

Areas of priority include, but are not limited to, cell signaling, genetics and epigenetics studies, especially from an integrative perspective, with the long-term goal of understanding changes in cellular processes that lead to cancer and/or neurodegeneration. Candidates employing genomic and metabolomic approaches and with interests in interdisciplinary studies are especially encouraged to apply. This hire is a part of an “omics”-related hiring initiative that spans multiple departments within the College of Science. The ideal candidate would add to existing strengths in molecular, developmental and cellular biology, and benefit from new and existing strengths in genomics and omic-scale approaches at UTA. Collectively, these cluster hires would also benefit from existing and planned expansions of omic-related infrastructure at UTA, including the North Texas Genome Center, the Shimadzu Center for Advanced Analytical Chemistry, and the Division of Data Science.

For Assistant Professor applicants, the candidate should demonstrate strong promise for acquiring extramural grant funding and potential for producing high quality research and scholarly or creative achievements that advance the field. Additionally, candidates for Associate or Full Professor will be expected to arrive with actively-funded research programs.

New faculty will further contribute to the UTA community through high-quality teaching using evidence-based practices to engage undergraduate and graduate (Master’s and Ph.D.) students from various backgrounds and experiences effectively.

Start-up funds, salaries, and teaching loads are highly competitive, and successful candidates will have opportunities to apply for generous state funds with which the University and Department has had considerable success.

The appointment is expected to commence September 1, 2025, for the start of the Fall 2025 semester.
