YMCA of the Triangle Facilities Assistant Manager III (Camp Seafarer) in Arapahoe, North Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Facilities Manager perform all duties as assigned by the Facilities Director as well as ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper use or care of equipment at all times. This person provides direct support in maintaining all buildings, and utility systems as part of the camp physical plant. The Assistant Facilities Manager is a full-time position that requires the staff member to be on-call at scheduled times. They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains all physical assets, including but not limited to buildings, vehicles, mechanical equipment, utilities and support systems in full functioning readiness, as determined by resource qualifications and the Facilities Director.
  • [Performs the following tasks either with prior education or willingness to learn with on-the-job training:Supports Facilities Director on work plans and staffing for maintenance projects while ensuring successful completion. ]{mce-=""}
    • Carpentry work
    • Plumbing work
    • Mowing / trimming of grounds
    • Welding repairs
    • Electrical repairs
    • Garbage / recycling / debris collection and disposal
    • Landscaping / general grounds upkeep
  • Supports Facilities Director in accountability for staff compliance with safety and workplace OSHA standards and for maintenance of all regulatory certifications.
  • Is "on-call" for emergency maintenance beyond the regular working hours and during the absence of the Facilities Director.
  • Assists with providing leadership and hands-on support of special events as needed including but not limited to, operational planning and logistics relative to property and facility needs in support of event day activities.
  • Performs duties as a backup Waste Water Operator when needed including but not limited to completing reports and collecting samples. Ability to compete certification if needed.
  • Applies pesticide as needed in accordance with local and state ordinances, required license to acquire within 6 months of hire.
  • Supports team efforts with essential seasonal site preparations, shut downs, and unplanned events such as storm damage cleanup and repair.
  • Assumes direct responsibility for coordinating maintenance requests received via Asset Essentials software
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery as needed to include, but not limited to tractors, backhoe, excavator, etc., with willingness to learn on site or complete certifications as needed.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by Facilities Director or Senior Director of Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Seven to ten years of demonstrated experience in construction, facility maintenance, vehicle maintenance, or equivalent work.

Ability to read and follow oral and written directions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
