The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans.

Description of Job

This position is part of the Army National Guard division, Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO) at our Joint Forces Headquarters in Centennial. This position provides electronic security system management and leadership to all Army National Guard facilities throughout the state of Colorado. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • serving as the Chief of Electronic Security Systems on behalf of the department;

  • securing security systems to support existing and newly formed business units/buildings/upgrades;

  • installing, maintaining, and upgrading of current and future electronic security systems, access control systems, closed circuit television, proximity cards, audio and video communication systems, and seismic alarms;

  • managing, developing, and executing internal control procedures, routine maintenance schedules, training of system users, technical materials, inventories, and system inspections;

  • serving in an advisory capacity to management, project managers, architects, contractors, design teams, building contractors, and anti-terrorism/force protection on all electronic security matters;

  • developing and enforcing department-wide guidelines, rules, and standards as it relates to use of electronic security systems;

  • designing strategies for the implementation, support, and compliance of electronic security systems within existing buildings, during construction projects, for remodels, and when upgrades to existing systems occur;

  • managing the departmental budget to ensure fiscal responsibility and administration is maintained to include providing monthly reports, reconciliation, forecasting, monitoring expenditures, performing budget data entry into internal computerized systems within deadlines, and ensuring department operates within established fiscal, procurement, and accounting standards;

  • devising organized internal tracking and record retention for all security system projects that includes the design, specifications, construction, inspection, closeouts, and maintenance;

  • supervising, managing, developing, training, recruiting, evaluating, and providing daily guidance to subordinate personnel; and

  • providing recommendation to internal managers/directors/administrators on electronic security systems' restoration, modernization, development, upgrades, layouts, and acquisition.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of technical experience repairing, performing maintenance, installing, modifying, calibrating, or certifying electronic security systems;

  • One year analyzing, comparing, recommending, and procuring electronic security systems for businesses/organizations.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position will require some emergency weekend and evening hours.

  • Must be willing to travel between Colorado Army National Guard facilities throughout Colorado and to training outside of Colorado.

  • Must be able to pass a background check at initial employment.

  • Continued employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a security clearance within the first six months of employment.
