Role Purpose

Corning Shared Services supports Corning’s businesses, through best-in-class and evolving operations, with a focus on actionable insights through evolving processes, ensuring compliance, and executing vital transactions.  We work hard to actively to support Corning’s evolving businesses, eliminate manual processing of standard transactions, and act as a thought leader in the digital transformation to ultimately be a top talent destination inside and outside of Corning.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize ongoing tasks, project work, and other initiatives

  • Support end to end payroll operations

  • Review time and attendance records

  • Enter and validate payroll inputs ensuring accuracy

  • Reconcile outbound payroll files and reports including payroll remittances and general ledger

  • Communicate regularly with business partners, and vendors to meet process needs

  • Maintain documentation of relevant processes

  • Appropriately recognize, classify, and protect confidential data

  • Work in a team based environment and support department efficiency and standardization initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • MS Excel including the creation and use of Pivot Tables

  • The use of MS Excel macro functions a plus but not required

  • Critical thinker

  • Demonstrated ability to process large amounts of data

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and customers at the highest service levels

  • Demonstrate good analytical skills, presentation skills and problem solving capability

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and link to business implications

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with people in different time zones/cultures

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree preferred

  • Payroll processing experience

  • Basic knowledge of PeopleSoft or SAP systems a plus but not required

  • Customer service setting a plus but not required
