nVent Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor - Paint in Anoka, Minnesota

What you will experience in this position:

  • Lead and develop an effective team of technicians who support multiple value streams. Technicians need to be capable of troubleshooting equipment, preventative maintenance, chemical monitoring, training operators, and ensuring best manufacturing practices are being followed.

  • Supervise technician project priority and ensure structured problem solving is being applied.

  • Lead projects of significant complexity and financial impact including driving CER completion and execution.

  • Assist in the development of new process and new product roadmaps.

  • Champion a positive team environment with open communication, identifying problems and establishing resolutions with velocity.

  • Promote knowledge sharing to strengthen technical depth of staff, ensure responsive operational support, and enable process improvements.

  • Participate in value stream Gemba and lean activities.

  • Drive participation and leadership in 8 step RCCM activity for process and product quality issues.

  • Drive increased use of control tools like gage R&R and capability studies with actions based on study results.

  • Ensure active use of safety tools like risk notification cards, ergonomic analysis, and management of change along with overall improved behavior-based safety atmosphere for the campus. Implement new technology applications to maintain nVent’s industry leader status.

  • Apply specific technological expertise to specific projects.

  • Oversee team to ensure they translate customer needs into product specifications.

  • Drive team to ensure they coordinate and maintain complex development schedules including supervising prototyping and testing of new processes.

  • Partner as needed on outside activities such as third-party testing.

  • Drive team to establish test specifications and protocols.

  • Provide work direction to work teams to enhance productivity, effectiveness and partnership.

  • Continually improve use of effective DFM and DFMEA/PFMEA activity.

You have:

  • Academic background in Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing or other Engineering field. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

  • Ideally 2+ years of paint and chemical processing experience.

  • Previous leadership experience. 2+ years preferred.

  • Experience working in a multi-functional environment.

  • Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands:

  • The work will be in a normal office environment approximately 75% of the time with the remainder on the production floor. Up to 10% travel may be required. Travel will be a combination of domestic and global locations.
