This is a position specific recruitment and is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligibles will be used to fill this Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) position or function only.

The Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Systems Administrator (IT Systems Technical Specialist) in the Technical Systems Services office.

This System Administrator will support and maintain the Windows server environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administrator of Windows File System and Active Directory domain. Includes creating and configuring objects (i.e., user accounts and groups, group policy objects). Granting appropriate privileges and assigning file system rights.

  • Providing third-tier support and technical guidance for software and hardware problems from first and second-tier support staff of Computer Network Specialist IIs, Leads, Supervisors, and Managers. Responding to and resolving helpdesk service calls received via the Maximo ticket system, email, or direct telephone contact.

  • Deploying security updates and patches using SCCM.

  • Securing MVA network infrastructure, including servers, desktops, and applications.

  • Managing and configuring TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP using BT Diamond’s IP Control and MSDNS & MSDHCP tools.

  • Configuring and maintaining MVA’s server environment using Active Directory and Microsoft’s System Center Configuration.

  • Configuring virtual switch firewall storage pools and volumes and clustering environment for high availability.

  • Maintaining and supporting VMWare and Nutanix Hypervisors.

  • Building and maintaining the Virtual Servers and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

  • Providing 24/7 support for critical applications scheduled on a rotating basis.

Employees in this position are considered essential employees and are subject to emergency call back procedures, twenty-four hours a day, as may be required to maintain continuous operation of a facility. Employees in this position will also participate on a rotating on-call schedule one week at a time.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database, or operating systems software technology.

Experience: Three years of experience maintaining, monitoring, implementing, communicating, and operating Windows Server and applications environment. *Three (3) years of the required experience must include Windows server management and VMWare or Nutanix Hypervisors.

**SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION recruitments are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities). No substitutions are allowed for a Selective Qualification.

Notes:

  1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related fields to include coursework in the application, communication, database, or operating systems software technology may be substituted for the required education.

  2. An additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining application, communication, database, or operating systems software may be substituted for the required education.

  3. Experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or evaluating, implementing, and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school on a year-for-year basis.
