As a Senior Network Engineer, you will join the Networks & Connectivity Engineering (NCE) division which is a part of the Connected Aviation Solutions Business. The Senior Network Engineer will work on the GLOBALink system, which is an air to ground communications system serving the commercial aviation and government air traffic authorities around the world. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on network engineering projects with the Corporate Network Engineering Teams who are responsible for design development and assisting in implementing an overall network connectivity strategy.

The system is embracing a very exciting part of our product development life cycle where we will modernize our communication and messaging infrastructure enhancing our ability to provide services to our customers. GLOBALink is comprised of hundreds of radio ground stations. It interfaces with satellite ground-earth stations and hundreds of airlines and civil aviation authority systems. It aids complex, proprietary message processing and system management servers, all connected by a complex and sizable communication infrastructure.

What You Will Do:

  • You will work onsite 3 days a week in Annapolis, MD.

  • You will analyze statement of need and business requirements to generate technical requirements

  • You will conduct network threat and vulnerability analysis, implement solutions for risk mitigation, information assurance, and patching strategy

  • You will apply networking standards and best practices for ensuring information security

  • You will assist with maintaining the networks in development and security lab environments

  • You will develop technical network solutions for projects and changes

  • You will develop and maintain documentation, including addressing plans, network topology diagrams, data flows and variables

  • You will perform analysis of network data flows, access control lists, and firewall rules

  • You will integrate solutions with external systems operated by external companies or agencies

  • You will analyze the performance of the network against established systems performance parameters such as latency, availability, and capacity

  • You will develop solutions with cross discipline engineering teams, as well as mentor junior engineering staff members

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience in network engineering or an Advanced Degree in a related

  • field and minimum 3 years of experience in network engineering or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Must have experience in networking concepts at all 7 ISO layers

  • Must have experience with routing protocols (BPG, OSPF, EIGRIP)

  • Must have experience with network connectivity technologies

  • Must have experience with VPN tunneling technologies (DMVPN, VTI, IPsec and SSL client VPN’s)

  • Must have experience developing and negotiating network engineering requirements with stakeholders from inception through full life cycle delivery of requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Prior experience in detailed design networking experience, network architectural changes and customer-driven enhancements to existing and new complex systems

  • Prior experience in requirements configuration management

  • Prior experience in performing and leading technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for network systems.

  • Experience working in a highly integrated team environment with software, hardware, and system engineers in a service-oriented business model

  • Experience working in high availability systems with 99.999% availability with an understanding of redundant protocols (BGP, MPLS, EIGRP and HSRP), redundant architecture, testing/cutover protocol and monitoring requirements method

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
