Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience, the Workplace Mental Health Program Manager at Michigan Medicine will partner with other main institutional resources to provide guidance in the implementation of collaborative and system-wide resilience, crisis response, and mental and emotional well-being programming for Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, house officers, and medical learners. In this position, you will offer a range of preventive and response interventions, including early detection of mental health concerns and tailored programs within the healthcare environment. You will engage with the Michigan Medicine community through a variety of outreach activities, including presentations and training, and will be knowledgeable about the well-being needs of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities*

Be an expert resource and practitioner in applying current research to inform evidence-based and best practice strategies, interventions, and innovations in areas such as: stress management, mind-body interventions, compassion/empathy fatigue, grief and loss, moral distress, burnout prevention, trauma-informed care, and positive psychology.

Design educational presentations, training, and outreach to Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, house officers, and medical learners, focused on emotional well-being topics relevant to healthcare professionals.

Lead OCWR organizational efforts to implement Stress First Aid as a model of stress support and coping.

Lead the Michigan Medicine Peer Support Network by coordinating with Michigan Medicine partner offices to enhance impactful event response strategies.

Manage programming to support house officers and medical learners; implement strategies to increase access to critical mental health services for house officers and medical learners.

Offer consultation to Michigan Medicine leaders on emotional health and well-being concerns.

Have the opportunity to draft articles, reports, publications, and abstracts related to mental health in the workplace; present programs at academic/professional conferences; oversee and evaluate pilot projects.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in a relevant social or behavioral science discipline (e.g., MA/MS/NP in Counseling, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, or PhD/PsyD in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology)

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a licensed mental health practitioner working with diverse communities

  • Licensed for independent practice in the State of Michigan, or able to obtain license for independent practice in Michigan within 3 months of hire

  • Experience in teaching and coaching groups and individuals in stress management and resilience

  • Demonstrated experience in responding to trauma and crisis, including offering emotional support debriefing and interpersonal process groups

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating, and implementing workplace mental health and well-being programs

Work Locations

Will require travel to multiple locations on and off the medical campus. Available for occasional flexible working hours to meet the needs of the healthcare community. This position will be mainly onsite with some opportunity for flexible working arrangements. Flexible or hybrid work arrangements are reviewed annually and may be subject to change.
