What You'll Do

The University of Michigan Investment Office is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Investment Operations Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Investment Operations, you will manage the accurate entry and reconciliation of portfolio activity and validating in-house system valuations against external bank balances on a daily basis. You will help maintain the integrity of in-house data.

Responsibilities*

  • Record daily portfolio activity into internal risk management system, ensuring accuracy and completeness

  • Reconcile daily portfolio activity and balances with custodian bank records to ensure in-house system records are up-to-date daily

  • Match and upload support documentation with portfolio activity in-system, ensuring quick reference to validate records

  • Provide daily reporting on recent & expected portfolio activity, along with current and expected cash balances

  • Investigate and resolve any activity or balance discrepancies promptly

  • Collaborate with Investment Office team members to ensure accurate recording of activity

  • Process internal cash transfers and F/X conversions, when needed

  • Help prepare financial reports

  • Stay updated with relevant accounting standards and regulations

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Desired Qualifications*

CPA, CIPM, or relevant certification

Previous experience using portfolio management or risk management software

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Onsite work is required during the first six months of employment in the role. Upon satisfactory performance during the first six months, a hybrid work arrangement may be an option. Hybrid work requires team member to be onsite at least 50% of the month.
