Responsibilities*

Oversight and management of HR activities for MCTP. This includes working with MCTP Director and Senior Supervisor on recruitment, interviewing, hiring, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, performance evaluation, equity studies, probation paperwork, timekeeping and discharge of staff. Assist/guide faculty and research support staff with preparation of job postings in partnership with Human Resource staff. Process volunteer paperwork. Assist with VISA compliance. Oversee the maintenance of job descriptions, training and competencies required for all staff positions. Ensure completion of effort certification and conflict of interest disclosures. Create and maintain on-boarding and off-boarding documentation. Draft and execute memos of understanding; facilitate faculty and staff promotions. In partnership with the MCTP Director and Senior Supervisor, develops and contributes to the overall strategy, direction and vision of the Center. Assists the Director with planning, directing, and overseeing administrative, operational and HR matters for the Center. Oversees daily center operations and coordinates center activities through assigned staff; prioritizes and delegates work activities. Supervision, training and mentoring of staff within the MCTP. Plan, assign, and evaluate the work of administrative staff. Lead Employee Engagement Coordination?s including DEI initiatives. Ensure compliance with departmental, institutional, and federal policies and regulations. Provide overall unit leadership in the growth and sustainability of the Center. Implement and create unit policies and procedures. Maintain CAP/CLIA lab HR documents. Work closely with department on annual space survey. Manage facilities for the MCTP including approval of construction requests, laboratory moves and space allocation. Other management duties as requested.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration or business administration.

  • 3+ years management or supervisory experience

  • Prior leadership experience

  • A high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to anticipate needs.

  • Proven ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality, including the ability to appropriately handle patient protected health information.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Experience in planning large and complex events.

  • Knowledge of Michigan Medicine Policies

  • Familiarity with the Standard Practice Guide.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in health administration or business administration

  • Prior working experience with CAP/CLIA

  • Proficient in M-Pathways FIN and HRMS systems

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
