Job Description

Our Des Moines Metro PCC Paving Division has an opening for the 2020 construction season for a Fine Grade Foreman. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the activities of work crews engaged in preparing subgrade and finish grading for streets, parking lots, and highways; ensuring the quality of the grade in front of the paver and hand pour areas. This individual will directly supervise 2 or more non-supervisory employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Submission of daily paperwork is required.

Qualifications

• Previous grading, operator, and string-line experience

• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, construction methods, interpretation of plans and specifications

• Ability to read plans, excellent problem solving skills, and a strong mechanical aptitude

• Ability to set up and run a laser level

• Effective communication and leadership skills

• Basic computer skills and math skills necessary

• Current driver's license and acceptable driving record

• CDL license
