Overview

Marine Operations Manager (AUTEC-2024-21105):

Bowhead Marine Support Services (BMSS) seeks a Marine Operations Manager. The Marine Operations Manager will be responsible to provide a trained and technically competent crew to operate and maintain a variety of Government-owned vessels. The Project Manager shall plan and conduct all maintenance, repairs, and alterations necessary to maximize operational readiness of the vessels; and provide all shore-based logistical support necessary to maintain and operate the vessels.

Responsibilities

Job duties will include:

  • Effectively manage all contractual requirements/deliverables delineated in assigned Contract/Delivery Orders. Responsible for oversight, timely completion, quality and budget of all contractual deliverables.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day duties of BMSS personnel in support of all CONTRACT requirements/deliverables. Provide direction and supervision to the Vessel Captains and Project Personnel.

  • Develops, plans and establishes objectives and priorities; plans, presents, and justifies budgets; determines structure; allocates funds and personnel resources; and assigns responsibilities to subordinates ensuring performance is in accordance with all contractual requirements.

  • Establishes policy, operating instructions/processes and guidance. Develops goals and objectives for subordinates.

  • Responsible for continuous process improvement in all aspects of business processes, policies and procedures.

  • Hears and resolves complaints from employees. Effects disciplinary measures, such as warnings, reprimands, suspensions, and recommends action. Approves/disapproves leave requests from subordinate employees.

  • Schedules manpower and equipment for ship movements and operations, perform data analysis for corrective maintenance, labor hours expended, cost accounting and develop spread sheets and inventory control.

Qualifications

  • Ten plus years of vessel operations experience.

  • Desired but not required - USCG Master license any tonnage/waters and STCW certifications and endorsements.

  • Marine or Port Operations management experience preferred.

  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Be flexible to relocate to work locations with the ability to relocate anywhere in the United States or Overseas.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold an active security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
