Madison County Government Juvenile alternatives Program Coordinatorr in Anderson, Indiana

This position is a grant-funded position from the Indiana Department of Correction with the possibility of renewal.

JOB DESCRIPTION (Summary) Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  1. Must have a working knowledge of the criminal code, and criminal justice system i.e. courts, case management, etc.
  2. Proficiently work and communicate orally and in writing while maintaining strict confidentiality with juvenile participants, local judiciary, community service sites, visitors, and the public.
  3. Ability to have direct interaction with juvenile participants daily. This interaction includes ensuring compliance with program rules and regulations, supervising juveniles, teaching cognitive behavioral programs, providing some case management services, and modeling pro-social behavior.
  4. Must be able to establish and maintain a working relationship with referral sources, and work closely in collaboration with, the Juvenile Court staff, Juvenile Probation staff, and not-for-profit agencies.
  5. Capability to follow all program grant requirements, be creative in program ideas, and be a self-starter.
  6. Responsible for the review, creation, and revision of program policies.
  7. Must be proactive in promoting workplace safety procedures, and regularly address safety concerns with staff, visitors, and juvenile participants.
  8. Ability to encourage/guide juveniles in modifying attitudes and patterns of behavior with juvenile participants.
  9. Incorporate evidence-based practices in your everyday work.
  10. Must demonstrate strong human relations skills such as negotiation and conflict resolution while utilizing motivational interviewing skills.
  11. Must display a teamwork attitude and the ability to work effectively as a team and take initiative.
  12. Work involves problem-solving skills to gain the cooperation of justice-involved individuals in situations that may jeopardize the safety of the public and/or staff.
  13. Ability to prepare required forms/reports within the agencys deadlines i.e., statistical reports, case plans, progress reports, etc.
  14. Responsible for directing and supervising juvenile work service crews.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS: Education and/or experience and training equivalent to a bachelors degree in criminal justice, social work, or related field. Prior organizational and supervisory experience preferred. JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Summary) Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Qualified candidates should demonstrate an ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Applicant serves as Coordinator for the Juvenile Alternative Program and will be responsible for administering and implementing program goals and objectives as outlined by the Department of Correction.

Applicant must have knowledge of the judicial system, juvenile courts, and child welfare system and an understanding of the policies and procedures of juvenile programs, case management, etc.

Must be computer literate.

Ability to work irregular and/or extended hours when needed.

Must be able to be certified in the Indiana Youth Assessment System (IYAS)

Ability to maintain juvenile participants files, complete program status, reporting activity to the referral source.

Must have a valid Indiana drivers license and demonstrate a safe driving record.

Must be willing to testify in court If necessary.

Must be willing to obtain certification in First Aid and CPR.
